Finally did W9D1 after a week off between runs (last week was a crazy schedule). But I ran the 30 minutes and felt pretty good after I finished. Looking forward to my last 2 runs and then my first 5k a week from Saturday!

Hello Week 9! To all my friends, sorry I've not been around the past week...I'm sure you missed me! I did run Week 8 last week, but due to no computer was not able to post about it. I ran W9D1 today. I can't believe we are almost finished!

This program is so wonderful! I finished Week 9 Day 3 today and feel so strong, fit, and empowered! I now know that I will continue running 3 days/week, doing a minimum of 3 miles each time. I'm going to start playing with speed, incline and distance, eventually starting the 10K program once I feel I'm ready. I've been lifting weights for the last 3 weeks, too, as well as doing yoga. I feel that I'm finally established in a routine that will allow me to reach my fitness goals for the first time in 14 years. Yay! It's been great following each other's progress. This is the first time I've used message boards regularly. I'm proud of all of us!

I completed W9D3 on Sunday and I am very proud of myself.

I will continue running(like I am on week 9)until I improve my time. It takes me 35 minutes to complete 3 miles and I hope that by the end of the month I am able to finish in 30.

good luck to everyone

It is a great feeling, first of all I have started this program about 3 times and always quit the first week not to mention that I quit running several times before that.

Secondly, it took me 13 weeks to do a 9 week program because I kept having to repeat days and even weeks. So thank GOD i am finally done. Now I plan to keep running and keep training.

That is so awesome! I'm in the same boat. Especially with exercise, I've never started something and finished it. I've started this program 3 or 4 times before and never made it past Week 4. Isn't it a great feeling?! I have 2 more runs left to graduate. Congrats to you!

OMG. emoticon w9d3 is here and done. What a great feeling of accomplishment. I don't think I ever truly finished something before. It reminds me of when my eldest son signed up for the marines. He told me that he has never finished anything and he would like to finish something. Well son I feel the same way as you and I am so proud of myself and you of course.

Week 9 Day 1 = accomplished! Crann33 - I remember feeling the runner's high over a decade ago. It only happened for me if I pushed myself past the 3-mile mark. After this week is finished, I plan on running 4 miles occasionally, so hopefully I'll get that feeling again. Congrats!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Week 9 Day 3 done. Running today was a strange experience... I don't know what it was, I had a sudden feeling overcome me, I'm guessing endorphins and I felt like I could run forever. What a great feeling. Congrats to all of you finishing this week. I am planning on doing the couch to 10 K next.

week 9 day 2 run done. My speed is slowly improving. I am thinking of continuing on with the C2 10K after Saturday which is my last C25K. I had a look at the program and I think it will help me get my speed and endurance up and improve my 5 K time as well.

Congrats Dighumor25! I completed week 9 day 2, cut the speed back to where I was before and ran the whole distance. Friday is my last day of C25K at this speed.

W9D3 DONE!!!!!! emoticon

Almost got to the whole 5K..I'm at 4.9K...lol Darn close...was an awesome run today...not sure why sometimes I can barely make it or not make it at all...then others I feel like I'm the energiser bunny...lol...today I felt like I could just keep going and going and going...hehe...

Gonna spend the next month with my Grandma and I am going to focus on getting through the whole 5K every time...and maybe work on increasing my speed, hopefully do the 5K in 25 min. That'd be awesome...but, I shall see how it goes with just running 5K every other day from here on out! :)

Best of luck to the rest of you! YOU CAN DO IT!!! :)

Week 9 day 1 complete yesterday - sort of - I tried to up my speed pretty significantly and ended having to walk twice which I've never had to do before. I'm going to do over tomorrow and pace myself better and should get it done.

W9D1 done...I only ran 2.9 miles...which I was sad to see...but I know it is alot closer to the 3 miles cuz part of my run is a mile long very curvy sidewalk and it doesn't show on any map...there is only a straight line that follows the road...so either way...ya know what, I did it! I ran for 30 min and got darn close to the 5K!! :) I am so happy I decided to join this group! :)

W9D1 done! in the pouring rain. When I started out, it was lightly sprinkling and hoped to make it back before it got bad, but no luck. I was drenched. I am a wuss and hate to run in the run.

In regards to the 10K program, I found that I enjoyed the Hal Higdon spring training program novice to be good. He doesn't expect any certain time and just like the C25K, he builds you up weekly. It is interesting because he takes you up in mileage and then goes back down before he goes up again. It is designed for a 4 times a week workout though. When I get done with this, that is the program I am going to try again.

Felt great Doug. Started at 7:30 so we barely beat the south Florida heat and I sweated off another 3 or 4 pounds I am sure. It was fun to race in my first competitive race since High School and I did finish 104th out of 184 and 13th in the men 50-59 category which really surprised me because 9 weeks ago I would not have even imagined that I could run 3.1 miles lol...Thanxxxx C25K!!!

I think I may try this training schedule for a while, it is designed to get to one hour of running and there is only one long run per week. I want to increase my stamina and times and then I will see about training for a 10K.

Mark,
I am absolutely in awe of all that you have accomplished with all you have had to endure! Thank you for sharing and for all your support as well throughout this program, everyone giving the encouragement they did totally helped me with keeping everything in perspective.

I'm all about moderation (yeah right...my husband says I know two speeds: reckless abandon and stop! LOL) so I know doing the 10K training is going to be all about taking it pace by pace.

:-)

Congratulations to all my fellow C25Ker's. You all have something to be very proud of! After quadruple bypass surgery and 9 weeks of treatments plus 3 more surgery's for cancer last year, I am extremely thrilled to get this far and would really enjoy continuing on to the next challenge along with you, but a 10K may not be in the cards for me yet. I do plan on continuing to train and improve my 5K runs where I do have a ton of room for improvement. I looked at cool running's 10K training and frankly I will not be ready for that for a while yet. Here is the 10K training disclaimer for the beginner program,

" Beginner
For runners who run 15 to 25 miles per week and expect to run the 10K in 48:00 and up for men, or 54:00 and up for women. You should have at least six months of running experience."

I do not think I can devote the time and my times are no where ready for that yet.
Again congratulations and what ever you do keep me posted because you have all been a huge asset in my following through with this program and I am more than willing to continue on with you all if I can.

Because of my poor W9D2 on Tuesday I am not going to count today's run as completion yet. I will wait until I actually run the race on Saturday to officially graduate. I left a bit late today (8 am) and it was starting to heat up but steady and slowly completed 3.1 miles. I lost 4 pounds in one 40 minute run and it took 40 more minutes of pool therapy to get my core temperature back to normal. I am sure I gained it all back with the gallon of water I guzzled afterwords.

emoticon Done! C25K complete this morning. It was a great run. I got out at 7 AM before it heated up. Ran a great pace off the bat and kept it up throughout. Love the detail in the Nike+ data.

So pleased to see everyone tough it out and enjoy that feeling of accomplishment! I've realized that the biggest part of this program is the mental part. Sure, physically our bodies may not have been used to consistent exercise and we had to get our legs, but it was the mental toughness that allowed us to have any success!

I like Freelife1's suggestion (Kim had mentioned this before) of moving on to 10K training. My 5K isn't until July 3 so I need to continue to work on distance and pace. It would be great to start the Bridge to 10K program to step it up to the next level. What do y'all think? Who's in with me? Sure would be great to keep this group together!

W9D2 done, can`t believe there is only one last day of C25k left. My speed was a bit slower today, but I know why - I spend too much time biking yesterday.
I am happy to see that all of us made it this far. I think one important thing is that we also need to learn to listen to our bodies. On some days we might be not feeling well (like KILTGUY, Kennedygirl and Mark did), and that is when it is better to take some time off to help our bodies regenerate. Good luck everyone in your 5k races or last day of c25k if you are not running a race (I am not). I hope we can move on to training for a 10k next week - I have already signed up for 10k race in October to keep me motivated.

I had been sidelined for about 4 days with sinusitis. All of these afflictions just seem to sap our strength. After starting on medication I came back revived and more energized, which is why I ran d2 today after running d1 yesterday. And yes, Kim, it's amazing how much I too missed running while sitting idle.

Mark, maybe you need a little medical attention? Might still be able to do that 5K Saturday after all.

Here's to all of our health!

Wow the ups and downs we are all experiencing.... terrible W9D2 for me. I thought the crud I picked up last week was gone except for some minor congestion in my lungs. This morning It was much worse but I tried to run anyway... only made it 22 minutes and was having way to much trouble breathing so I had to quit. What a bummmer. I am still hoping to run my 5K on Saturday but if this congestion does not go away I may have to pass....

Whew, boy! Talk about a roadblock! I am going to attempt W9D2 tonight...but I've been sidelined by a mild (thank goodness) case of bronchitis. So, I anticipate tonight's run will be a slow plodding one.

On the bright side, I've been absolutely miserable without running!!! That's how much I've missed it!

W9D2 done!! Oh what a glorious morning. Conditions were similar to yesterday, got out 1/2 hour earlier. Just a great run. Maintained a good steady pace. Ran 4 miles in 41 minutes (with the 5 min warmup and cooldown). Really feeling confident and so excited to in the last week of C25K.

Just as Freelife1 did, I really enjoyed this run. Days like this make you feel you can do anything!

Hope you all have great runs this week!
