Thanks everyone!! I really appreciate all the advice and thoughts! I think I will keep walking for a bit and start the training when I get back from vacation July 7- at least try to start :-) Makes so much sense that my right knee hurts because of compensating for my left foot hurting. I will definitely take all of your advice and take it easy and ask my doctor. I really needed the encouragement so thanks for taking the time to post!!

Definitely talk to the doc but like so many things, you won't know what you can do unless you give it a try. Just don't push yourself too hard and keep to a slow pace as you build your stamina. My pf was mostly calm when I started the program 3 weeks ago and has been manageable. I've to an inflamed nerve bundle, too, which has been a bigger problem. I find that doing lots of down dogs in yoga helps keep the pf in check and ice works on the nerve bundle, so I'm still plugging along.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

I would talk to the doctor and see what s/he says. You don't want to do anything to cause more injury!

That is great that you are walking. Check with the Doc before starting your running program.
You other knee may be sore from trying to compensate for your foot hurting. I know I have done the same thing.
Take it nice and slow, you will get there.

I started off like gangbusters and now am sidelined with an injury. I think you are wise to start walking first. When you are ready to begin, my advice to you is to do a good stretching and warm up before. The 5 minute warm up walk is great, but stop and really stretch. Especially with you PF. Good luck to you:)

Just because you're having a hard time now doesn't mean you won't be able to run. I think you're wise to start out with the walking. Of course I'd say to also check with your doc about moving on to running. It could be that you need a little more of the walking and other stuff you've been doing to treat it but don't give up yet. Just go slowly and take care of yourself because in the long run it will pay off much more for you. So glad you're with us and good luck to you.

I'm literally starting from couch- have not been active hardly at all in the past month due to some medical procedures. Before that basically I just did Wii Fit Plus when I could but was held back a lot by plantar fasciitis. Well, I have been treating my PF with a boot at night, icing it, got custom orthodics, rolling things under arch and stretching a lot. Today I completed my 4th 3.25 mile walk...I thought I'd start with walking to see if I could even make it through! Well, my PF hurts off and on during the walk and the knee on my other leg feels sort of stiff and sore during and after. I really want to start training and work the C25K program!!! I just don't want to do anything foolish that might increase or create injury. What are your thoughts??? I'm sort of on the fence here...would be SO sad not to be able to run.

Thanks for reading and throwing in your thoughts!!
