emoticon to Spark. You have a lot on your mind right now; but it's time to start thinking about yourself. I'm living on a shoestring also. I've applied for food assistance, help w/my meds, free phone. Times are tough enough when we're caring for ourselves but to have the added weight of others - it makes it so much more difficult.

Keep in touch w/this compassionate, supportive team. We'll help you all we can. margi. emoticon

KIMSTAGG - I am sure that if you really think about it, it doesn't cost any more to eat healthy stuff than it does to eat crappy stuff. It is just a case of taking the time to think.

It sounds like you have a lot of pressures in your life.

Your father's illness, may I ask, does he have a terminal illness? A lot of people see improvements which aren't there because they are unable to or don't want to face reality, because sometimes they are afraid of the unknown. i hope that your dad DOES improve. I can understand the worry - I have been thru family members very serious health problems, but regardless of the outcome, we do come thru' it.

I too know what it is like re the no finances for buying food. Is there some way you can get a food grant from an agency? Sometimes churches have a food-bank attached, and you don't have to be a member of the church to receive this kind of help. I will more than likely be needing to seek a food grant this week or the beginning of next week also. I don't see that there is any shame in that. Hubby has to go for 2 coronary appointments at the hospital 2 days in a row - 100 miles travel each day + road tolls to pay, Mortgage due out this week and we are $400 short for that, and the list goes on. It is a case of learning to juggle.

When you help your friend going thru the divorce, are you getting in your car and driving to her? If this is the case, then you will just have to tell her that you do NOT have the money for petrol to do this - that would actually possbily kill two birds with one stone because you wouldn't have to listen to so much of her talking about her situation. It is unfortunate that she has no-one else to talk with about it - are you really really sure that she really does have no-one - not even family or someone she works with? If that is the case, then suggest she have counselling. You must understand that you don't own your friend's problems re her divorce, and altho' we can be there as a listening ear for someone, try not to take responsibility for it. If need be, suggest that she talk to you a little less about it just at the moment because you also have a lot on your plate, but suggest that SHE get some help for her emotional needs regarding this - a little bit of qualified counselling may be appropriate for her.

Do YOU have a Therapist, also? It sounds to me like you may benefit from having some sessions, also.

Remember, we are here for you, and will help you in any way that we can. Keep in touch and let us know how you are going.

Take care,

KIMSTAGG, I'm sorry things are so rough for you right now. When I get overwhelmed, it helps for me to find on "do-able" thing to focus on. You seem to have concerns/worries in the areas of relationships, physical health, finances and mental health. In regards your mental health, do you have a counselor or psychiatrist or other health professional you can contact to get some help right now? Or is there something else small you might be able to control - get 8 glasses of water in, take a daily walk, something like that? Deb

All I want is to eat crappy food. Icecream, cereal, pasta, bread, peanut butter and jelly. It stinks. With everything going on in my life, I just feel like I'm not going to be able to hold on much longer. My dad is still very sick. He's not getting better, but everyone is pretending he is. My dear friend is going through a divorce that just keeps getting uglier, and she's got no one to support her, except me. And I just can't do it anymore. I'm tired. I don't have enough money for gas to get back and forth to work for the week, let alone buy food---especially healthy food. I'm just tired and worried and scared.
