I think it is really sad that your country's health system dictates what Doctors you can see.

Maybe your former psychiatrist can recommend someone your new insurance co. DOES accept. He/she MAY be able to make a suggestion as well about the timing.

Hugs,
Kris

Thanks, Kris!

I just switched to a new insurance so unfortunately I am unable to speak with the psychiatrist who prescribed it. I am going to set up a new primary care physician today & maybe she can be of some help but I don't know. Might try the pharmacist or some other online options.

I haven't tried it, so don't know from experience, however I suggest that rather than relying on people giving advice over the internet, that you contact your Dr and explain what is happening. Because you have been put on it (again) recently, he/she should be keeping in close contact with you, monitoring you, anyway.

It is possible that he/she may suggest reducing the dose a bit and more gradually increasing it; or taking it at another time of day; or may even consider changing you to another medication.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

Take care, and good luck,
Kris

Hello!

Curious if anyone is taking Lamictal (generic form) or has past experience.

I recently started it (I used to take it, over 12 years ago for about a year) and it seems as though if I take it around noon, I sleep so deeply that I can barely open my eyes when my husband tells me goodbye leaving for work, and then I am knocked out again til my alarm goes off, then I reset it & sleep through that!

Previously I was taking it around 6am and end up with a bad headache around1-2 pm & nothing could help relieve it for several hours. So bizarre! I did the two-week increase, 25 mg to 50mg to 100mg then seemed fall back in to depression & lethargy so I decreased to 75mg for two weeks (I've completed one week at 75mg so far). Eventually I'm to be at 200mg but I'll go in smaller mg increases.

I haven't really found much help online regarding other people's testimonies to when they take it and how it makes them feel.

Thanks for any advice!!
