I think Artist Dates are like morning pages. Sometimes you just have to do them. Then as you get more and more unblocked, they become more meaningful.

1. How do you feel about morning pages at this point?

I am still feeling good about them. Most of the time I have enjoyed them. There were a couple of days that I had difficulty getting all 3 pages done. I really seem to feel good after they are completed and that carries through the day (most of the time).

2. How do you feel about artist dates?
This week, I had difficulty initially planning the time to do a "real" date and not just see it as a check off time. Time was tight. However, my morning walks became more and more inspiring and I ended up taking some pictures with my cell phone camera. Actually, taking a camera and shooting some pictures in nature was on my original list of ideas for an artist date.

3. Did you experience any synchronicity this week? Describe. Yes! My experience was more emotional and spiritual. Last week was rather trying. My emotions ran high due to both circumstances and physical factors. I really felt disconnected. On my walk Friday, it all came together. The music I listened to...the images I saw through the camera...it all just came together for me. I felt very energized and alive. I wrote a blog about it!

Getting ready to wrap up Chapter 3 - again don't have the book with me while writing this so I am going to just use a little creativity ;)

Mine.
1. Right now I feel angry at my pages. They seem whiny and trivial. I am hiding out in the mundane and not talking about things I probably "should". BUT with the junk out of the way I am doing things and saying what I know I want to do and say. So in this they are invaluable.

2. I LOVE artists dates however I hate scheduling them and planning it. I yearn for less structure in my life so this is probably why. I am giving myself lots of me time these days and this feels very good.

3. YES I DID! While I was ice dipping my legs for achilles tendonitis and then self-massaging them after, I was thinking and even said out loud to my husband how I wish my massage therapist were there to do it! He called me out of the blue this week and asked me to play photographer for him at a gig in exchange for free time on the table. I got to play photographer and I get 30 minutes extra free!!!! I'll say yes to synchronicity!

It was a good chapter and the tasks actually were a lot of fun. I have a few more to do but I'm not pushing it. Yes, it's TUESDAY! I am going to read Chapter 4 tonight. I technically have not done an artist date though this entire week i have done so many artist date type things. I have been cutting pics out of magazines for my love box which is now also going to become my vision collage - but in a box! I have spent an entire morning doing only as I please which included cutting out pics and two evenings. This is unusual for me! I went to Michael's to get the decoupage and rooted around for some fun pics and stickers to go on.
I didn't really plan these as artists dates but I planned for me time this week which felt incredibly good and EMPOWERING!

I just wanted to check in with week 3. I did read the chapter last week, and it is a very good one! I've highlighted a lot, and I've just been rereading those parts at random. I haven't done a task yet, and here it is Tuesday, so I better get on it! Uh-oh, haven't done my artist date yet either. Yikes!

Evelyn, I let perfectionism get in the way of everything! I am trying really hard to let that go.

I'm glad we are doing this together! emoticon

OK, this is where I hop on the train. Chapter Three was where I left off on my last attempt to finish The Artist's Way. I think what Lisa said in another post about perfectionism being the problem applies in my case, too.

Thanks for taking this journey with me!

Flying blind with out the book and haven't finished reading the chapter yet.

LOL though, my wrap-up for Chapter 2 was all about how annoyed I am at Morning Pages and that I keep whining about the same things. AND Chapter 3 has a section about Anger and how it can be a useful tool to motivate us to make changes and get things done!!! I know when I need to get my house cleaned it always helps me to just get angry about it and turn on angry chick music. The other sections included being SHAMED as an artist and SYNCHRONICITY with the universe. I believe in the whole synchronicity and have seen the net appear many times when I have leaped though it doesn't make the leaping any easier when fear takes its grip. Nonetheless, I have never been sorry for the risks I have taken that were truly heart decisions (as long as in addition to my desparation I did the research). Anyway, it will be interesting to delve into the shame thing particularly with my avoiding actually doing the things that make me happy.

Haven't looked at the tasks this week, but I am going to be a bit easier on myself and exercise extreme self-care. I have started an ice-dipping regime for my achilles tendonitis which is time-consuming and not necessarily fun - AND exhausting. SO I am making a commitment to do my MP's, 1 AD and 1 task.

Keep it going folks. This is a process where we make progress not perfect. If you think about it, perfect is pretty boring. Mistakes and turns in the road are far more interesting!
