The community gardens have four year long waiting lists! There are advantages to living places where land is cheaper...

I move at the end of this month and I'm going to grow herbs in pots inside my apartment. And I'm going to "plant" applications at the nearby community gardens. Maybe I'll get lucky by next spring.

Yum home grown garlic!
You should also be able to still plant lettuce, swiss chard and snow peas.

I checked with Mother Earth News and my local master gardener. I can still plant brussels sprouts, beets, carrots, collards, spinach and arugula for this fall. And of course garlic.

No - I do not think they will survive. It feels like fall one day and spring the next. Our weather is crazy!
I have my plants already growing in a small pot. I am putting them in a raised bed and will cover them later when the temp does down with a row cover.

Its still about a month away for plant fall crops where I live. I usually plant lettuces, radishes, snow peas, and some greens. Any of your early spring veggies will usually do well in fall plantings and frequently sprout an grow faster due to the warmer temperatures. You might check with your local Master Gardeners of a good nursery to find the best times to plant various fall crops.

Who is putting things in the ground now for fall? I've never grown anything late in the season but lettuce and am looking for other good suggestions.
