That is good to know... so aim for 80-90% of the time...
Makes more sense. If it's 100% i'm going to tire after a while and not stick with it.
I'm ready to give it a go! :-)

There've been similar threads like it in the past.

I usually try to skip cake at birthdays and such; I make a healthy treat for myself instead. If the party is not in our home I tell myself I'll have the healthy treat when I get home.

For me personally I find it quite hard (too hard as it is now) to do ETL to a T. So I just strive to keep increading the foods that are recommended and diminish / limit as well as I can the other foods. I have the impression that it's only a handfull here at the team who do the program to a T... - they're the heroes! emoticon But I could be wrong.

I agree with QUEEN-EYDIE, that if you do Eat To Live for a while, you start to feel so good and "clean", that if you deviate from it much, for example by eating processed foods, high fat, salt, sugar etc, you notice that you feel sluggish and toxic! So it is refreshing to get back to ETL quickly and once again you enjoy the benefits. But like DS9KIE said, you can start with making improvements and go from there. Good luck!

well first you have the six weeks plan witch helps you lose weight..then you have the life plan with the 90 percent rule...you eat mostly this way and 10 %you eat what you what so that means you can eat the cake once in a while, ect

you don't have to be 100% to get the benefits of this diet...eating fruits and veggies is what important....eat them in salads, soups, stir fry,

when going out to eat ...if you go as a special occasion then make this a special meal or just get the best healthy meal the restaurants have...

So just try your best...eat more fruit, veggies, nuts, beans

Yes, it's totally realistic to stay on this plan---Dr. Fuhrman does allow for a bit of wiggle room, so I stay totally on plan at least 80% if the time and still have good results and I feel great! For me, I feel so good when I'm eating ETL, that if I stray from it, I just have to remember how good I feel when I'm on it and it brings me right back!

Hi again,
One more question...
I'm just starting my first attempt at Eat to Live tomorrow.
Now, the book states that you should not do a diet you can't keep up for life.
Is that really realistic? Do you guys and girls really do this diet 100% of the time all year around?
What if you're going to dinner to someone? Do you bring your own food?
What if your kid has a birthday? You skip the cake?
I'm just trying to figure out how to fit this into my life...
Happy new year to you!
