Animals are great at detecting things that the rest of us don't notice. I'm glad your father's cat was there for him.

My youngest cat, Chloe likes to do the rearrange thing also. Usually she does it when she is having a fit or wants attention at that exact moment and you don't give it to her. Joe-leen is very careful not to knock anything down. Once a few of my roommates were playing Risk and when they set the board of to the side to watch a movie Joe-leen jumped on the shelf they put it on and began walking across the board. The guys started yelling at me to get her down. I said no since getting her off the board would ruin their game. As soon as she was across she sat down and one of the guys said she was a lucky cat. At that moment she looked the guy straight in the eyes and swished her tail knocking pieces all over. I'm sure it was her way to get back at him for threatening her. The rest of the guys laughed over it, even though they had to start the game over.

Your story of Joe-Leen was amazing... She was given to you by an angel who knew in advance you would need her... What a blessing!!!

I have two cats, Maisey and Tigger... and they are my heros and home rearrangers... yes, they knock everything down... lots of picking up after these speedy two which own the whole house... the good thing is my house is small......

Again thanks for the share........ Jennie of Santa Fe, New Mexico......

What a beautiful story of your cat. I hope you many more years together. My dad had a cat that woke up my mom by lightly clawing her and meowing. It turned out that my dad's blood sugar has dropped dangerously low. If not for him my dad may not have made it through the night. You just got to love your animals, they are there are all the right moments in life.

She is the tabby cat laying next to the calico on my profile picture. She has really pretty green eyes that are very expressionate.

Great story -- aren't animals amazing? Joe-Leen obviously loves you and has decided to be your caretaker.

My oldest cat, Joe-Leen, always amazes me. My mom got her for me in the fall of 1998, after I held her for hours while sitting at an animal sanctuary that I volunteered at. The owner insisted my mom take her for me a few days later. She was a little sick and had some fleas. I bathed, fed and carried her all over until she was better. She brought me out of a deep depression, where I had suicidal thoughts. In 2001, she woke me up from a deep sleep that was induced by night cold medicine and a fever. There was a fire in the house. My roommate had someone over who had done drugs prior to coming over and he set fire in her bedroom and the hall outside of my bedroom door.

Growing up I was epileptic and at 21 I ended up having a seizure brought on by high levels of stress. (my doctor told me I had out grown them when I was 17). Before it began, Joe-Leen had started to bite my ankles and knees (not normal for her). When I came to from the seizure she was next to me, comforting me. At the time she was two years old. I haven't had a seizure since that day. Until two days ago, I was coloring with my niece and Joe-leen jumped on the table and laid down on my coloring book and would not move. A few minutes later I became extremely tired and then I became light headed and dizzy. I felt like I was going to have a seizure, so I went and to my room to lay down and sleep. She followed me to the room and slept on my chest the whole time. At 13 she can still detect when I'm about to have a seizure.
One of the things that have surprised me the most about Joe-Leen is she is a lover not a fighter. If your doing something to her she doesn't like she will lick you instead of scratching or biting. If your still doing something she doesn't like to you she will start to give little nibbles as warnings, before she bites hard. She gets in between my other two cats when they are fighting to try and stop them. She has prevent some cat fights, by snuggling up to the cat that was about to start a fight. She really is my little hero and a if people were to pay attention to how she acts, she would be a perfect role model.
