Motivational Quote - Suffering is the tuition one pays for a character degree.

SparkPeople's Comments

If you want something, whether in weight loss or in life, the harsh truth is that you probably have to work for it and suffer a little bit. Every time you make it through a difficult situation, give yourself a pat on the back--you just made a tiny step toward positive change!

This applies to so many areas in life. I think it's a wonderful thought to be really considered.

Can't say I agree.

I really like this quote. I take the word "suffering" as obstacles in life. I don't see this quote pertaining to a healthy lifestyle change, I see the word pertaining to real suffering and coming out through the wilderness of life.

Love this quote. To me suffering means doing what I don't want to do. The human side of me does not usually want to work out or eat less.

Strong and harsh words. Very powerful quote.

Even though this is rather harsh I agree with the overall sentiment.

I like it. Suffering is rather a strong word choice, but I understand the geist of it. Maybe I don't like it.

That's horrible! Suffering? Ugh! What a horrible way to think of getting in shape and treating your body and mind. Suffering is a stress that takes a toll on people and it isn't uplifting. Living in misery; thinking of a lifestyle change as suffering isn't inspirational at ALL.

My lack of will power is the only obstacle that will keep me from reaching my goal.

she looks beautiful and vibrant from my perspective. I do think getting fit can be fun if you find the right path, so it isn't suffering but a fun worthwhile endeavor.

I think that positive change isn't about suffering, it's about making choices that give you joy because you feel so much better.
