Hi Heather, Thanks so much for the message. I know what you mean about having so much to do this time of year. It just seems to never end at times. I remember when my kids were little, it was a full time job being home with them. I loved it, but it was a lot of work, and it was hard to carve out time for taking care of myself. I didn't have kids til I was 35, and then we had 3 babies in 3 years. It was wonderful, I cherish those years, but it was a lot of work and worry. Also even though the kids are all adults now, it's still hard for me to carve out time for myself. So I have to make a point of getting my meals, and taking care of me. What I do is eat before I make meals for my boyfriend. He loves to eat meat and potatoes, bacon and eggs, creamy soups, and desserts. I gained 10 pounds the first year we were together. So to take it off I eat my food first, and then cook his food. Since I am full I don't get tempted to eat the fattening food I am making. He's lucky because he can keep his weight down because he's got a fast metabolism. To make things harder, we have all those delicious goodies sitting around that are a real temptation. My daughter's boyfriend brings the most delicious things to eat. His family is in the farming business down in Coachella Valley--dates, figs, tangelos--and they love to eat and cook. He brings all these fantastic goodies here, and it's too hard to resist. Right now I am staring at a baggie of home made beef jerky his dad made, absolutely delicious. I try to limit myself to two pieces at a time. Then my relatives sent a box of See's candy, some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, and various kinds of chocolate. I try to resist, but sometimes I really crave the sweets even though I have had a meal. It's so hard. When I slip up, eat that piece of candy, or mess up in some way, I just move on, put it behind me, and get back to the food plan.
It's so nice your husband is going on walks with you. It gives you a chance to be together too. Do you live on the base, or off base? 29 Palms is beautiful this time of year. I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year. Let me know how you are doing. It's always so nice to hear from you. Take care.

    Hi Nathanne!
Horses can definatly be great companions. Im so sorry to hear about your losses. But im glad Gigi could give you some happiness and companionship. My horses have always been my best friends, like part of the family. Im so glad you didnt get a miniature horse, all the ones i have met were so nasty!
On the weightloss end of it all, well i guess I didnt do as good as I thought. I gained 2 lbs, but im not going to kick myself for it. My husband and I went for a half hour walk today together, which was nice becaus he hardly ever goes with me on walks. Ive been slacking off latley on the walks but im trying to get back in the grove again. Now that the holidays are over and most of the junkfood is gone, im going to get back on my diet and start drinking alot more water. Well its getting late, but I wanted to write you a note since I wasnt able to yesterday because i was busy busy busy! Hope your having a wonderful week.

    Hi Nathanne
My son just turned 2 in November. Time has gone by so fast, seems like yesterday he was born.. We had a ton of fun this morning opening presents. Unfortunatly our digital camera died after we took only one picture. We bought it used and it has always given us trouble but latley its been really bad and the battery hasnt been charging. But i got a great surprise, my husband bought me a new digital camera that i have been wanting! I was so surprised so we got a few picutes of him playing with his toys atleast. But i had a great christmas this year, my husband surprised me with a few great gifts that i really wants expecting.
I hope i can get a new horse soon too. My mom was a riding instructor and trainer for years and i grew up with horses. My first pony was the greatest, her name was Shirley and I got her when i was 10 for free and she was an old girl, about 23 or so. And she was completley blind in one eye and 3/4 blind in the other, basically she could see shadows with one, eventually she went completley blind. But she was such a great p0ny, she taught me alot. And my mom trained at a Morgan breeding farm, so I eventually bought a baby, his name was Dorey. Unfortunatly I had to sell himwhen he was 3 when I got married because i couldnt afford to bring him with me, and my mom couldnt afford to pay for him. I also leased a couple horses over the years and my mom had another horse, Hyperion, but she unfortunatly had to put him to sleep at 6 years old because he had a disease called Ehrylichiosis. My mom faught a hard battle with him from the time he was 1 until he was 6, when finally he could hardly walk anymore becuase his feet were so deteriorated. It was so sad, he was such a sweet horse.. But im determined to get my mom and myself a horse again so we can go back to how things were when i was young, when her and I would go on sunday morning trail rides and all that... I miss it so much.. well anyway..
On the diet end of things, I havent done too bad today. I made a huge breakfast but I only ended up having like one or 2 pieces of bacon because i was so overwhelmed cooking and cleaning up the house and everythng. And then I was cooking during lunch time, but i was snacking on little things. (ok ok so i was snacking on pieces of chocolate! hey its Christmas right! hehe) Then dinner we had ham with some potatoes and macaroni and cheese, but i didnt eat too much of it. I was so tired when I was done cooking. Tomorrow I get to make pea soup too, and that isnt too bad. I didnt make huge ammounts of food really either so we dont have a ton of leftovers to tempt me. Well, I still have some cleaning up to do from dinner, but I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!

    Hi Nathanne,
So sorry to hear about your Uncle, but good for you for resisting the temptation of food while there! I tend to pick at alot of stuff when at family gatherings and such because its things i normally wouldnt get, but im starting to get better about it.
Thats funny what Gigi did to get to Red! I cant believe she broke through a gate! He must have been a pretty cute stud hehe.. Definatly would have been rough if she had gotten pregnant with her injured leg and all and her age. Poor old girl just wanted a boyfriend, that so cute.
Do you have any special plans for Christmas? My husband and I are staying home, a couple of his friends are coming over for dinner tomorrow because they have nowhere else to go. I cant wait to see my son open presents tomorrow, last year he had just turned 1 so he couldnt really open presents, but now he knows all about it, so it should be cute to watch him rip them open tomorrow.
    Have a Merry Christmas!

    Hi there :-)
Gigi sounds like a great girl. Ive never ridden a Missouri Fox Trotter before but i hear they are a dream to ride. Ive been told once you ride a gaited horse you never go back! Thats to bad about her leg though. Atleast she found a good home to retire and relax :-) I had a horse out here for a few months but had to sell him when i got pregnant, and he had some serious arthritis issues. The lady I bought him from lied to me and just told me he was "Stocked up" and thats why he was a little stiff, and stupid me I believed her. I should have known better and gotten him vet checked.. But turns out he would become lame after only a few minutes of riding. I had him on some supplements which helped him somewhat but i couldnt afford to keep him on them, but now hes retired on a farm down near San Diego, so im happy. I miss just being able to be with him and groom him and all that though.
I think the 300 calories at a time might be a good thing for me, ill have to talk to my Dr though because shes been working with me to loose weight. But i tend to snack alot during the day too, so maybe if i planned out things to eat i would do good on that. Well i have to get going, ive got some cleaning to do before Christmas, but its been really great talking to you!
