    Hi Heather,
My horse, Gigi, is really a cutie pie. She's a Missouri Fox Trotter, and I got her from some people in 29 Palms about 2 years ago. She was a trail horse for many years until another horse kicked her, and so she can't ride more than about 15 minutes before she comes to a stop. She is lame in one hind leg. But when she does get going she has that beautiful "broken" gait that is so smooth. We don't ride her much any more, and she's enjoying her retirement. Honestly, I was really afraid she would knock me over when I first got her, but now I trust her completely. She can almost read my mind. It's improved my confidence a lot. She's also spoiled rotten, comes to the back porch to beg for treats all the time. She's 23, and starting to slow down a little. I have to get her teeth floated in January. The vet comes to the house.
As far as the diet, basically I cut up a 1200-1600 caloried diet into 5 or 6 meals so I never eat more than 300 calories at any one time. The meal must have protein in it, and I can't go more than 3 hours without eating, even if I am not hungry because if I wait too long I will get too hungry to be satisfied with 300 calories. That makes it harder to stick to the mini meal plan. I try to find things that are already packaged and labeled, like string cheese, or Luna Bars, or Lean Cuisine meals. That way it's easier to do the math, and figure out how much I'm eating. Also it's easier to take food along with me when it's packaged so I can stick with the plan. I hope this helps you. Take care, and keep in touch--Nathanne

    Hi again!
That 3 hour dieting plan sounds interesting. Ill have to ask my doctor about it. Ive been loosing weight pretty good just calorie counting and exercising but ive started to slack off a little bit during the holidays and all.. Ive just got to get back in my groove hehe. My biggest motivation is that I want to loose weight so i can start riding again. When i move back to Connecticut next year riding will be a big part of my life again, but i dont want to get on a horses back until im less than 200 lbs. And since that is my one true passion im pretty motivated to loose the weight :)
