One simple rule, edited version - follow my 5:2 eating plan (5x1500 cal days and 2x800 cal days each week) and use 16:8 eating every day

Note to self: Review my plan twice a day!!!

Goals:
I will eat between 1400-1600 calories 5 days out of 7 - I will do 5:2 eating
I will walk at least 2000 steps 5 days out of 7 (this goal will be increased over time)
I will lose between 1 and 2 pounds per week
I will cut back on junk snacks/evening eating, except for fruit, yogurt or possibly nuts
I will lose 100 pounds overall
I will lose between 16-20 lbs in the next 13 weeks (by April 30/2020)- achieved!

New goal May 1 - I will lose another 50 pounds by the end of the year ! (239 to 189)

I weigh myself every day but I will update my weight here every week.

2020: eat better, move more, get stronger, live fully and lose 100 pounds - this year!

    I venture that your bigger reason is that you don't want to feel compelled to keep eating and eating certain foods, so you eat others that feed you without that effect. You really want to end the compulsive habit. That was my basic desire and I've learned- in fits and starts- how to make non-compulsive eating the norm. I had to come at it from both sides; what not to do and what TO do. Eating regular meals without my go to binge foods was my first to do. And lettuce is definitely part of many, many meals!

    Tx for comment on lists. You are motivated by the specific nutrients, but I would say there is an underlying motivation to feed yourself healthful food that supports something you really want that makes you willing to eat foods with nutrients that do the other stuff. Bravo!
    In my early days, I was not motivated by specific nutrient facts, but I can be now. I'd be more likely to write I want to protect and increase my healthspan. I don't usually have to convince myself to eat veggies. My daily eating plan is the what. I always had a general idea of what it would be good to be doing but until I got in touch with what I really wanted that I wasn't getting with my old habits, it did not matter to me much that some things were healthy and some weren't I suspect you have always known lettuce was good for you, but something made you willing to actually appreciate that and eat it.
