I am so sorry. I knew her from the Challenges as well. She was so very lovely. Her warmth, wit, compassion, support and love is something I will miss. She has left an impression on my heart. I will treasure the memories. 1482 days ago

Marilyn passed away early this morning December 15, 2016. I am blessed to have been on her Challenge Teams for several years. What an encourager, so full of hope, laughter, and lover of life and Jesus.
From her daughter Brandy: It is with a mix of sadness and joy that I'm writing to tell you Mom went to be with her Lord in the early hours of the morning today. Sadness for the loss of an amazing women in our lives, and joy because she is with Jesus, and free from the pain she was in the last weeks of her life. Words can't tell y'all how much we appreciate your thoughts, love, and prayers over the past weeks. This has been the hardest thing I've ever been through, and I've been through some hard stuff! With your support and prayers, and most especially with God's presence and strength, we've come through the hardest part. We've still got a rough road ahead as we learn to live without the light of her love, and her ever joyful and positive personality, but with your continued prayers and God's grace, I think we'll do alright. In accordance with that joyful personality, it was Mom's wish to not have a funeral, but a party instead. Since she was such a popular lady, she'll be having two parties, one in LaGrange, Ga and one in Temple, Tx. The Georgia party will most likely be held on January 7th, and the Texas one later in the month of January. I'll be posting more information about both parties in the days ahead. These parties will be a joyful celebration and memorial of her amazing life.
I feel that it's important for me to remind everyone that she didn't want any flowers. Her wishes were for you to donate to The American Cancer Society, a charity of your choice, or your local church (above and beyond your tithe). I also want to remind everyone to really be present during the upcoming holidays. Love your family, friends, and neighbors, laugh a lot, do good to those in need, let go of any anger or strife, and remember Jesus is the reason for the season! Follow His example and Mom's, spread the love! 1499 days ago
