Hi! I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba and I'm hoping to find some on-line support and friends to walk with me through this weight loss/healthy living journey.

I am married with 5 children-- 2 that I made (14 year old girl & 18 year old boy), 1 step son (19 year old), and 2 foster daughters from Ethiopia (20 & 22 years old).

Any suggestions and help will be welcomed.

April 20/08 - I just posted some new pics
May 7/08 - my sister (dmmomof2) joined... yaay!
June 19/08 - not much motivation lately... gained 3 pounds (back to 155)
January 10/10 - checked in for the first time in a long time... stayed the same (still 155)
April 1/10 - just started working out with a trainer and going to zumba classes once a week
October 1/10 - had a really rough summer because of a marriage separation... my weight was stable at 150-155... started yoga and exercise classes again... still working on controlling my bad eating behaviours
February 21/10 - back together with hubby after 3 month separation... did nothing for my health (stress, weight gain...) but I'm back on track! Going to GoodLife Fitness 4 times a week. Set a goal to walk/jog/run the Manitoba Marathon in June (10k). Starting weight at the beginning of Feb. was 167, as of today I am 161. Goal = 140 by June 30th.

My Goals:
My primary goal is to get healthy. I have spent a good portion of the last 5 years feeling unwell.

Of course, weight loss is my goal, but the health benefits aremost important to me, too.

My Program:
March, 2008 - I'm eating much healthier but I have yet to get into an excercise routine... that's why I'm here!

As of 4/1/08: I started walking every day and working out with home exercise videos and SP videos. My favourite is the jump rope video by Coach Nicole!

5/15/08: Just got my Turbo Jam DVDs so now I'm working out to those! Whew... not easy, but the end results will be worth it.

June 19/08: Motivation low... will not give up though!

March, 2010: Began a 6-week program with a trainer.

Oct 1/10: Workout a few times a week... still need to practice better eating habits.

Feb. 1/11: Started new year nearly 20 lbs heavier than I was 6 months ago. Eek! Back on track at the gym 4x/week.

Personal Information:
I'm Annette, I'm married with 5 children. We live in Winnipeg, Manitoba... I am a VERY proud Canadian!

Other Information:
I'm a high school teacher and I go to university part-time. I love reading and watching movies and hanging out with my best friend -- my sister (dmmomof2) -- and my children. I can't say I LOVE working out, but I'm doing it 4x/week so that I can run a 5k in June, 2011.

    Hi Annette! Sorry to hear that you have put weight back on. I know how tough it is!! Things with me are so so, I am going to the gym and working out about 5 days a week. BUT my eating has been awful! So I'm hovering around the same weight, not gaining but not losing either *sigh*. Thanks for the compliment!!

    I'm from England too, I live in the county of Lancashire (north west) . Winnipeg is so different especially the weather lol. In England they generally have people betting on whether it's going to snow at christmas and if it does snow its usually for a couple of weeks at most. I have a friend who works for Damart a huge thermal underwear retailer so I'm going to be stocking up. : ) I've already been eyeing up snow boots on-line.
    what's winnipeg like in the way of gyms sports clubs etc. I've seen the shapers gym and I've looked up a muay thai kickboxing centre which I may start when I get residency. What are you doing at the moment to get in shape, still doing the turbo jam DVDs? You probably don't have too much spare time with your studies and such a big family.
