    hey, hon!
Thanks for responding to my comment (about the plugger's wife). It's hard to respond -- to know what to say to a stranger's pain.... Just being acknowledged as seen and heard can be important. So I wanted to respond to you.
I've learned that it (feeling rejection) hurt less and helped me when I learned to love myself. Of course, everyone's path is different so I can't direct you down YOUR path, but having read your SP introduction about body image, I'm going to suggest 2 things specifically that I've learned.
    1. Identify the parts of your body that you love or at least find acceptable. Maybe it is the stretch marks on your tummy because you gave birth to wonderful children and so those marks are a gift. Maybe it is your hair or smile that make you feel good about yourself or strong legs that carry you or hands that are remarkably pretty..... whatever. Lavish love and care on those body parts. Let me emphasize "lavish" -- be generous with yourself here and be lavish often! Gradually, when it happens, let the love spread. Example: if it's your hands, get manicures and use hand creams often. Wear dish gloves and work gloves and protect your hands. Soon, you'll realize that your hands are connected to your forearms and you'll want to take care of them too -- sunscreen for them too! And so on. The upper arms deserve some bicep curls and back lifts to shape the triceps -- because you are loving them and keeping them strong and shapely and deserving of notice and care. A lovely rounded shoulder can get a blouse that might slip occasionally to reveal the shoulder to a quick caress, even if it is your own. Loving yourself and taking care of your body is basic; it is not vanity.. God gave you the gift of your body and you should take care of it!

    2. There are PROfessionals out there who can help with your body image. They go by many job titles like image consultant, personal shopper, or simply "salesgirl". Pay nothing or pay much; they will help you look and even feel your best. So screw up your courage; bathe and perfume yourself lightly, put on NICE clothes and shoes, and go to the nearest shopping mall big department store and AVAIL YOURSELF of their free services at the cosmetic counter. Tell them you aren't buying today, but you are searching for a new look and will likely be buying a lot when you find it. Be honest about needing help since you haven't changed your look in awhile and don't know what the new products are.

Now trot over to the ladies wear section and find sales help (okay, this IS the hardest part!) and tell them you need some "professional" help. That is the key word right there -- professional. That shows respect -- and almost everybody will now do their best for you! Tell them you need 3 outfits for everyday wear that suit your size, shape, and coloring -- can they help or direct you to someone who can? THEY will bring you their choices, and you will do the modelling! If you should discover something that makes you feel really good, buy it!
Or if you have a fashionista friend, enlist her service to go shopping with you! Another good place to try is nicer consignment stores. They have lots of willing help! Meanwhile, you will have loads of fun getting an objective person's advice on what looks good on you. And since YOU didn't pick it out, you will be forced to look at yourself in a new way -- making it easier to see your current body size.

Oh, and lastly, if you buy something, start wearing it immediately. Wear it home. Wear it to the grocery; store. Just WEAR IT! Wear it out! Get used to wearing it! ONLY if you wear will you get used to looking good and feeling good. And then magic will start to happen!
