Hi!

Update:March 21, 2018: Exercise has helped my osteoarthritis to subside! No surgery to replace a hip and/or knee--just exercise! There seems to be a period of time in March that I have a lot of trouble walking for a week or so, and I feel all efforts to become stronger are lost, but then it gets better! I think it's the weather!

This is not the first time that I have used the Spark People site. For the most part, I use it on my phone, but wanted to explore it in more depth online. There's still more to see and do...so I'll be busy for some time to come!

I have enjoyed reading the articles and I believe that one of them mentioned that connecting socially added to your success! I'm giving that a try and having a lot of fun! I also want to add that the people I have met so far are fantastic! One of my Spark Friends, believes that your success is related to the number of Fitness minutes you earn! I think she's right!

Update March 12, 2017: Now there's even more to see and do but it's going to take some time to learn how to navigate the updated site! I think I'll sign up at a gym and just go exercise in the evening so I don't have to muddle through the confusion the site is right now! See you around!

My Goals:

Update March 12, 2017: To look into VBLOC therapy for weight loss which means all of the preliminary things a person has to do before weight loss surgery. VBLOC is not the same as gastric bypass or the other forms of surgery. It's like a pacemaker that sends signals to the vagus nerve...but I won't explain more until I know more. I spoke to one person who is taking the bariatric exercise class I'm taking who said he lost 80 pounds while going through the behavioral phase of the program. He said he started out at 500 pounds and just had the surgery. If I am able to lose 80 pounds in the preliminary stage then I will have learned some new, positive habits that will be immensely helpful.

I enjoy knitting and crocheting. My mother taught me to make Granny Squares when I was a teenager and I taught myself to knit when I thought I was going to lose my eyesight so that I'd have something useful to do! My daughter is an artist and is trying to teach me to create tangles (as in Zentangle). She makes them look so easy, and they are supposed to be, but I find my too clumsy looking! Keep practicing, she says!!
