Spring 2021 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment:

As I get ready to start the 5% Spring 2021 Challenge, I continue to suffer from sciatic pain and bursitis which definitely interferes with my motivation to do my regular exercise. Also, my furry walking partner has been suffering from an infected paw which means he can’t walk with me and our trips to the vet are taking up a lot of time. Additionally, I have been having pain ball and toes on my feet. However, I am determined to persevere and get back into my regular fitness routine and show the scale who is boss. My exercise plan for the Spring challenge is:
1. Walk daily, at least 6 days a week.
2. Yoga class twice per week.
3. Stretch and foam roll daily before and after my walks.
4. Do a variety of strength training three days per week.

Spring 2021 5% Challenge Nutrition Plan:
My pledge for the Spring 2021 5% challenge is to achieve my weight loss goals. I plan to eat a whole food, plant-based diet at least 90% of the time, limiting processed foods and sugar. I will eat more vegetables and fruits and less white carbs. I am here to inspire, support and motivate others in their journey while receiving the same on my journey.

On my team page I will daily record my exercise and Living the Good Life points, and I will weigh and record my weight weekly. I will check with my team at least three times per week. I will visit team members' pages and blogs as much as I can.

I will STAY FOCUSED and NEVER GIVE UP!

Personal Information:
My name is Barbara, aka Barbie. I live in Roseburg, Oregon. I am 71, widowed on November 12, 2013. I have three children, a grown daughter who has a 27 year old daughter and a 21 year old son; a grown son who has a son who is 24 and working in the woods as a logger, and I had one son who died 27 years ago at the age of 15+ in a downhill skiing accident. I also have one great granddaughter who is 2-1/2 years old. I retired just a couple of months before my husband became so ill, so now that he is gone, I am still learning how to fill my days, and fix meals for one.

Other Information:
I got a dog after my husband's death, a Padderdale Terrier (looks like a miniature black lab), named Marv in memory of my husband who had a collection of Marvin the Martian things.
I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, card making, quilting, and knitting. I am learning how to take care of the lawn and garden which were Bill's pride and joy. I love the sunshine and being outdoors.

Quote by Coach Nicole: Exercise is not a means to an end. It's a tool for living your best life.

We all know eating right can help you drop a few extra pounds. But did you know a healthy diet also could be the key to unlocking great hair and skin??? There is a powerful connection between food, health and beauty.

emoticon Cut out soda/pop. Not only can the calories add unwanted pounds, but soda/pop (diet included) is highly acidic and can the demineralization of our teeth! emoticon

emoticon Load up on red peppers. They're not only delicious---they're also packed with vitamins A and C. which can prevent cell damage, inflammation and pre-mature aging!

Sending you strength and courage your way for a emoticon SPARK day!

Some doors lead to amazing things.
Some doors lead to...well, not much.
But the more doors a person tries, the greater the
chances are that those amazing things will be discovered.

If you try once and succeed, you're amazingly lucky.
If you try 1000 times and succeed, you've earned it.
The only trick is to keep on trying until it happens.”
