Hi! I am a married woman (it will be 60 years this June) who is concerned about her general well-being. I have had hip problems and have had one hip replaced so far. After my second grandson's wedding in June, I will schedule surgery for the other hip.

My life has changed so much over the past 2 years. We used to love to go to craft sales, flea markets, farmers markets (as we had 5 large gardens and there was always someone picking, weeding and getting everything ready to go to market). I miss seeing the people at these markets. We had our usual customers that only bought fromus at the farmers market because, seeing as how we had done it for so many years, every Wednesday and Saturday was friend day for me. Then every Monday was another friend day in upper Wisconsin where we sold at a flea market. Every Thursday was friend day when we sold at another flea market in another city about an hour away. We'd share recipes and even bought small gifts for each other as we knew each other so well over the years. It was like a family to me, and I miss it.

But my husband and I still make homemade rugs at our home. I cut the material in strips, match up color combinations and he then uses an old-fashioned loom and weaves them. We then sell them at area craft sales, but have cut those down too due to our mobility problems. But it's our own sort of therapy. We create something with our hands, we see people and feel appreciated when customers say how nice they look, or they love the colors. It's a good feeling.

My Goals:
My goal is to try to stay active, mentally and physically, so I am able to continue to care for my husband and for myself.

My Program:
I am on the MOMMA48 Program. She is my daughter and feels it is about time that I take care of myself. I don't have a computer, but I have a secretary (MOMMA48) who will either get on the phone with me, be at each other's houses and I get to dictate and she puts my thoughts into words and types for me. She helps me get my feelings out about things that upset me that I have been holding in for way too many years.

Personal Information:

Other Information:
I enjoy reading cookbooks and trying all the new recipes that interest me. I love country music and enjoy watching country music DVDs as it has become too hard for us to go to Branson, MO, where we used to go. I also like doing search a word puzzles as a way to keep my mind active.

"The person with a fixed goal,
a clear picture of his desire,
or an ideal always before him,
    causes it, through repetition,
to be buried deeply in his
    subconscious mind and
is thus enabled, thanks to its
    generative and sustaining power,
to realize his goal in a minimum of time
and with a minimum of physical effort.
    Just pursue the thought unceasingly.
Step by step you will achieve realization,
for all your faculties and powers
    become directed to that end."
