April 11, 2008 O.K. I have not been on here in forever. I see that I''ve been a member for almost 3 and 1/2 years and nothing has changed. Not anything. My weight is the same and I''m battling the same issues and bad habits. On March 31st, 2010, I donated a kidney to my daughter. I''ve known for almost a year that i was going to do this if I was a match; ever since she became seriously ill. I could have been in such great shape before the surgery but no. I didn''t try hard enough. I ended up with plantar fasciitis (Heel Pain) and didn''t try at all. I am soooo disappointed in myself. It''s all about planning and wanting something bad enough to see it through. Isn''t that what wanting anything of worth in life is all about? Each individual has to decide what is important to them. So why do I keep deciding my health isn''t that important to me? He who has health has hope and he who has hope has everything - Arabian Proverb "In the faces of men and women I see God." ~ Walt Whitman from Leaves of Grass I like to watch people and I see so many people, like me, who could be in so much better shape. I see people who can hardly walk because of their weight and I worry how it is going to be for them when they are even older. I want to be a good example of healthy living for my family, friends, and other people around me. "To give encouragement, to impart sympathy, to show interest, to banish fear, to build self confidence and awaken hope in the hearts of others - in short, to love them and to show it, is to render the most precious service" - Bryant S. Hinckley No reg. pop, Biggest Hurdle: Going without Regular Pop. 29/30 days in April 20007 31/31 days All of March 2007. !!!!! Passed all of the other times i had tried in the past. 2/28 days - Feb. 2007. 7/31 days - January 2007. 23/31 days - December 2006. 17/30 days - November 2006!! On Changing your body: Dr. Hussman writes, "If the prospect of changing your body seems daunting, I''ll tell you a secret that''s been the basis of every worthwhile goal I''ve ever reached. The key to success in anything isn''t extraordinary, superhuman effort. It''s daily action. You find a set of actions that you believe will produce good results if you follow them consistently, and then you follow them consistently. You don''t reach a goal by constantly saying so little done, so much more to do. Just focus on taking small consistent steps, and suddenly you''ll discover that you''ve arrived. The focus should be squarely on the present - "What are the actions I can take today that will bring success?" "Your body is the way it is right now because that''s how it has adapted to the lifestyle you''re living. If you want to change your body, you''ve also got to change that lifestyle by finding more constructive ways to adapt to your circumstances. Focus on actions rather than results initially. The results will come quickly enough. For the first few weeks, resolve to yourself that you''ll equate success with the daily progress of doing your workouts and carefully following your nutrition plan. If you don''t see amazing results in the mirror immediately, stick with it - you''re typical. The fact that you''ve made the decision to change your life already means that you''re more than ordinary. " John P. Hussman, Ph.D. Goal Setting: 1. KNow what you want. 2. Know WHY you want it. 3. Know WHEN you want it by. 4. Know the PRICE. 5. PAY IT!! Coaching tip: craving tacos? Lean ground Turkey, corn, cilantro, black beans, lime juice, over greens.

My Goals:
Right now my goal is reflection and coming up with a plan. Right now I'm recovering from donating my kidney so I have some healing to do before I start exercising but I can also start planning and eating cleaner. I also need to figure out a workable plan to when I go back to work that incorporates exercise and eating clean.

My Program:
Plan, Plan, Plan...

1. Keep a clean kitchen and fridge to help with planning meals.

2. Plan for the next day. Workout clothes and Clothes for home. Plan every meal.

3. Need to figure out a schedule for eating and working out and sleeping and cleaning the house, shopping...blah, blah,

1st goal weight in 10% of my body weight. So so pounds less than that.

Songs for my Ipod.
Perfume called Lovely
A silver bracelet with charms for certain amount of pounds lost.
New workout clothes.
Better health, strength and endurance.

thanks for leaving a comment on my spark page!

I'm glad to hear that you made it through the first few days without pop - if made three, you can make another one. If you made four, you can make it through another one....

And I love the quotes on you page, they are very insightful and motivating. Thanks!

How are you doing? My daughter is at 2 weeks of giving up pop. I told her congrats and talked about you this weekend. Hope your ears weren't ringing too bad. January has been harder on me then December was, that is weird isn't it? Let's both keep trying to learn and grow healthier. Talk at ya again soon.
