November 2010
It doesn't seem like it could be six months already since Dad's passing. Time soothes, if not quite healed yet. Does make me appreciate those that are left more!

I have been down 5 pounds again with a very serious motivation to do SOMETHING!!! Currently this morning it is only 4 pounds but I know that is temporary also. I have been doing the "thinking" diet-haven't changed anything except I think before I eat and I think while I eat and of course about WHAT I eat!!!
I did go back to weighing every day because for me that works. Can cause a grumble like this morning, but keeps me on my toes!

May 2010
My Dad passed away the 6th of May. I am dealing with it the best I can, but I ask forgiveness for not being altogether "with it".

Also my computer has a malware program on it that I am trying to figure out how to scrub. It is attached to the opening--so my virus program isn't doing the job.

May 2009

The love from my fellow Sparkers has been overwhelming, and I just about cry as I write this--but it's a good kind of cry!!! LOL

There is so much joy here! And I for one, am joyful and feeling the LOVE (that;s with 2 syllables LOL!)

I am also so DONE, and if I can figure out how to make my "d" look like a "d" in a picture, I'll get one posted! No one ever called me backwards for nothing!

An amazing fact is that I have a 6 inch difference between my waist and the ubiquitous belly! Neither number is one I want to settle for. But when I first started Spark, my waist was either the same size or larger than my belly (ah-old age-the memory fades!)
---so WOO-HOO!!!
I am doing the DONE dance in my chair, and will be up and dancing as soon as I finish typing!
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh!!! Because I am sooooooooooo

It si my three year anniversary on Spark. I have not reached my goal, but I have learned so much about me and how to take care of myself. AND, I have not given up!!! I've been de-railed, lost, sidetracked, but I've never given up--and all the side trips have been for very short periods of time compared with pre-Spark!

I am still job hunting after a year (that '08 was Not great!) I have taken a lot of courses, some good, some not so good, but got at least a little something from each one. I am currently taking what looks to be the best of the bunch "Job Hunting in Tough Times". The instructor is fantastic, as well as funny!

So who should I be talking to that you know who needs my skills? My fanous new and last line!!!!
This year started out great--My daughter got engaged and then married. In the middle of that, I got laid off from a 10 year job.
It has been strange trying to sell my old self in a new market place! I'm still looking and also taking some classes that might provide a job of my own--and i can thumb my nose at the rest of the work world!

Nancy and Attila live close by, and he is the answer to a mother's prayer. He loves and is good to my daughter. They are waiting on children for a bit--but I can always get my "Grandma" fix with Zoe!!!--that would be little Miss Independent--she has a definite mind of her own at 3!

I'm plugging along--gained some weight back, but I am working the program again, and will be getting it back behind me (no, not that BEHIND!!!) I am having trouble with the heat right now--both migraines and fibro flares. But this too will pass and we'll all be complaining that it's cold and rainy before too long!

Happy New Year 2008--it will be great!!
I am still recuperating from a very nasty virus--I'm just "barking" now! But I am re-dedicated to my program. Thank you SparkPeople, because this is where I would have wanted to give up in the past! I missed two weeks at the gym, but went back last night--still not up to par, but I'll work my way back. Plus I discovered FitTV! I have been doing Body Scupting with Gilad, and working the "Shimmy" show! I also arranged my little workout space so I have everything handy on the bookcase.
2008 will be GREAT!!!

9-25-2007 update. Working out some health problems-both cholesterol count and diabetes maintenance. The Dr line, "at your age..." gets old--teehee-that and heredity will out! But I am determined to be in control, so watch out Dr.
Did get the "mini" vaction--3 glorious days at the Oregon Coast. Much needed and much appreciated. It was perfect timing and just the right amount of time for now.
Still plugging along. Not to goal yet, but close and may have to lower it once I do get there as I'm not pleased with the "shape" that I have. I am hoping that all the gardening, etc. that I am doing this time of the year will get the shape to shift!!!

Need to plan a vacation. Both a major one and maybe a mini "mental health" one!

here I still am, ready to dedicate myself to another year of healthy living and "sparking". Minimal holiday gain, and the info and determination to get it back "off". Need to recuperate from a cold so I can kick the cardio up in high gear. Really want to work on some shape shifting!
Not Houdini stuff, just a better body image!
Blessings all and keep on Sparking

nine months here, the "toddler" is gone. (I said I've lost the same 20-30 pounds , to have a whole flock of toddlers running around me!) At a plateau again, but it is a comfortable one until the holidays are over.
I think I have learned enough here to make it through the holiday season without gaining any weight. Then I can Spark attack again after the New Year.
This has been the best present i could give myself. 23 pounds gone, more energy, even with the "dark days" of winter, and better health. Lower blood pressure, cholesterol under control, no more obvious signs of the T-2 diabetes, and breathing better!!! WooHoo!
Bless you Spark and all you lovely Spark People!
Have a blessed Christ-mass,

11-6-2006 OKAY!!! 8+months and still going strong. 23 pounds lost and over 27 inches of me gone-don't want them back, uhuh, nope, never.
This is officially the longest I have stayed at a program.woohoo and thank you SparkPeople!!!

7-11-2006 I'm a 10%er!!! have lost the first 18, now on to the first 20!!!
My June challenge with my daughter was a success. I lost a net 2 pounds, and 3+ more inches. I have a whole"new" wardrobe, fitting into clothes I hve not been able to wear for 2 years. WooHoo!!!!
Nancy lost all her vacation weight and is looking sleek. This is the thinnest she has been since 5th grade (and she's 24). It eases my guilt for not setting a better example. I am so proud of her. She has lost a total of 30+ pounds now and wants to tone up what she's done and then will think about the next step.
I have one pound to go before my 10%!!! She told me that's the milestone that makes a big health difference for us. Way to go for us!!
I love SparkPeople!!!

This has been a remarkable journey so far. Thank you SparkPeople for existing and for being the start of a new life for me.
It has not been a smooth road, but I can come back here every day and feel renewed in motivation and strength to get to where I want to be.
first 15 pounds and 22+ inches gone/ half way to first goal.

I am starting over again, have lost count of the times i have started!!! LOL I do have a good sense of humor, which helps. I am determined to succeed this time and I am finding this website very encouraging and helpful.

emoticon Happy BELATED Birthday, DONE GIRL emoticon emoticon
The Taurus girl is born to a mother she can never live up to and she learns to be stubborn to get her own way since her mother is always pushing her to do what she wants her to do. The little Taurus girl can turn to food for comfort as she feels she isn't given the attention she wants from the parent. Thus she can have a weight issue. She loves the tastes, smells and textures of all things and especially food. She makes a wonderful cook, and can work in the restaurant business as she is a good business woman. She can work in the fashion industry, or hairdresser business as she loves beauty and style. She usually has a wonderful singing voice and has music talent. She can be a good actress. Her health issue is her throat area including her thyroid. She gets along best with Virgo, Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn. She does well being the "woman behind the successful man" as she really needs to have money.

Taurus, the second sign of the zodiac, is all about reward. Unlike the Aries love of the game, Taurus loves the rewards of the game. Think physical pleasures and material goods, for those born under this sign revel in delicious excess. They are also a tactile lot, enjoying a tender, even sensual, touch. Taurus adores comfort and likes being surrounded by pleasing, soothing things. Along these lines, they also favor a good meal and a fine wine. The good life in all its guises, whether it's the arts or art of their own making (yes, these folks are artistic as well), is heaven on Earth to the Taurus-born.
It's the Bull that serves as the Taurus's mascot, and along with that comes the expectation that these folks are bull-headed and stubborn. Yes, they are. Hey, this sign has a Fixed Quality attached to it after all, so expect that things will occasionally grind to a halt. That said, Taurus doesnÕt start out with the intention of getting stuck. They simply want to get things done, and it's that steady, dogged persistence that winds up being viewed as stubbornness. Bulls are actually among the most practical and reliable members of the zodiac, and they are happy to plod along, as it were, in pursuit of their goals. The good news for Bulls is that once they get to the finish line, they'll swaddle themselves in material goods. A self-indulgent beast? Perhaps, but if you toiled as laboriously as these folks do, you'd need some goodies, too.
Taurus is ruled by Venus, a lovely goddess who didn't deny herself many things. In ancient Roman mythology, Venus was the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Pleasure, and Taurus has pretty much taken up where she left off. Bulls are fond of all things pretty, whether it's in their home, at a museum or on the stage. Life as one sweet pas de deux is how the Taurus-born like it. To onlookers, this may look like so much materialism and blessed excess, but Bulls really aren't interested in living without beauty in their lives. Beauty to the Bull also comes in the way of a happy home life, one that includes a partner and a stable relationship.
Taurus values harmony in their personal lives, so they'll work hard on keeping their mate happy. The Bull's penchant for sensual pleasures, of course, can only help things along! Bulls can also be the sappiest of sentimentalists. Will all this overweening attention to their mate turn a Bull into a possessive mess? Probably not, although these folks do have to manage their tendency to latch on a bit tight. At the end of the day, however, TaurusÕs are true romantics and loyal to the core.

The Element associated with Taurus is Earth. No pie-in-the-sky for these practical folks, since they'd much rather be on terra firma. Bulls tend toward conservatism, and this is often seen in their day-to-day behavior. No far-out schemes (that's Air) or shrieking ultimatums (more like Fire) here. Taurus much prefers to take each day slowly and steadily and work toward their ultimate goal. Along these lines, those born under this sign are happy to stick with their projects until they have reached a successful conclusion. They are also extremely patient and dependable along the way. Does that sound earthy enough? The only kink in this well-oiled chain is the heckler in the gallery that tries to upbraid the Bull. These folks may not have a hair-trigger temper, but it's short enough. Bulls in a hissy fit can get pretty argumentative, but eventually they'll calm down and come back to center, since these folks would much rather be Zen. The Earth in this sign does tend to act as a balancing mechanism so that things never get truly out of hand. For every one person who considers the Bull a pain, there are two who will say 'No way!' and happily take the Taurus' gentle charms any day.
Seeing as how Bulls are generally strong and well-built, it's no surprise that these folks enjoy testing their strength on the field of play. Expect to find a Bull engaged in a spirited game of hoops or mountain climbing. Hiking is also a favorite pastime, since it keeps Taurus close to their beloved earth. Indoor adventures are also favored by Bulls, which is why the opera or ballet is right up a Taurus's alley. When it comes to love, the Taurus-born are devoted, romantic and somewhat possessive. Their sensual nature has a way of erasing any mistakes! Since Taurus rules the neck and throat, Bulls would be wise to keep a silky scarf at hand, ideally in a warm (and soothing) earth tone.
The great strength of Taurus is in their stability, loyalty and dogged determination. Bulls want to get the job done, and they will. What better way to get the riches they so fervently crave?
