Here I am at the release party for Stephenie Meyer's BREAKING DAWN. One of the only times you'll ever see me in a dress in my adult life.

Ready to exercise in my brand-new track pants! (I only look annoyed because this was about the 4th time I had to take the picture to get it to look right!)

I have a love-hate relationship with food and my body, and would like to eliminate the "hate" part of that equation.

This would probably be a lot easier if I didn't have to pay so much attention to what I eat. A lot of people scour labels for calories, fat, etc.; I scour for dairy and a host of strange little things that I'm either allergic to or have found it hard for my digestive system to tolerate.

I've been lactose intolerant since I was 10, and it's only getting worse. My tolerance for things like cheese, chocolate, and even cream cheese are disappearing quickly, with or without Lactaid pills. This has forced me to pursue alternatives that, though many of them are healthier than their dairy-containing counterparts, are not quite as satisfying and are going to take some getting used to.

HOWEVER, the dairy-free lifestyle isn't a total drag. In my search to make it safer and easier for myself to eat, I have found countless internet resources for dairy-free and vegan recipes. My local grocery stores are very good with stocking organic and vegetarian/vegan alternative options. So the journey away from "I can't eat that! :(" to "There's an easy, tasty alternative!" may not be as long as I was fearing!

So here I am, trying to build healthier eating habits without depriving myself, as well as develop and stick to a good exercise program that fits my life.
