I am 56. I am learning to conquer disorderly eating. I embrace exercise and love to encourage others. My name is Carole (though I am quite attached to my Sparkname of Cannie which combines my first name and my middle name of Ann(ie). I happily answer to either name. I am married, a mother of four, and a grandmother of three beautiful g-babies. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I am active - I walk, run, strength train and do other activities. Exercise has been part of my life for years. Food, not activity, has been my struggle. I am grateful to find support, encouragement, and knowledge through Sparkpeople. I am committed to losing 50 pounds of excess weight to lessen the burden on my body. I lost 30 lbs initially, kept it off for over a year, re-gained 20 and realize that weight doesn't keep itself off - it requires more vigilance than I was willing to maintain. I have fought this battle for so long, mostly on my own - Sparkpeople is a great blessing to me. My initial challenges are to be free of binge eating and disorderly eating in general, and to eat more nutritious foods, overall.

My Goals:
To continue to be active so I can stay active.
To offer support and encouragement to other Sparklers.
To continue my journey to better health and improved fitness on my way to a 50 lb weight loss. I fully intend to arrive at my goal weight of 143 lbs, and then focus on the work of maintenance.
Thy will be done.
I am learning to eat like a healthy adult.
One of the reasons I want to lose weight is to lessen the strain on my hard-working joints caused by excess weight.
TO SERVE AS AN INSPIRATION TO OTHERS WHO HAVE STRUGGLED AS I HAVE.
I am going to log enough fitness minutes in one year to help me drop 30 or more lbs of fat. Of course, it doesn't help as much unless I refrain from eating lg amt of useless calories, which undermines my hard work.

My Program:
Tracking nutrition & activity daily on SP

strength training 3x wk

hiking, walking, and/ or running 6 days per week

mixing things up: going up and down in my SP calorie range to keep my body "on it's toes" a little, plus lots of exercise one week, less the next, and making sure I get enough sleep which makes a big difference for me in terms of appetite, self-discipline, and weight

relying on SP for support (and finding it!!) thank you!

Blogging on SP several x per week-thank you for reading!

Yeah, I have a marathon (or two?) coming up at the end of May. I just try to make sure I eat all the time. A big problem for me before was forgetting to eat and then either eating too little or having to have a HUGE meal at the end of the day. I eat all the time now and fat loss is happening!

Lol, tell your seven year old that I love watermelon! My dad is crazy about it, he even had a watermelon instead of a birthday cake one year, haha. Thanks for the encouragement!

I saw a lovely black and white springer today when I was heading to walgreens, he looked to be having a blast in the rain! Bulldogs and Bullmastiffs were my dream dogs and now I've had both. If you're ever looking to adopt a bulldog, I volunteer with a great bulldog rescue...bullmastiff rescue too for that matter. emoticon

It's funny how the brain can play tricks on us....I don't FEEL 37, but I look in the mirror and see a ton of grey hair and think...wow...I imagine if my face wasn't so fat, I'd even have wrinkles! LOL At least there's hair dye and botox, for when I am closer to my goal!! emoticon
