Hello My Name is Candace/Candi. My husband was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes so now I can actually pull out the Ketogenic diet supplies that I purchased months ago. My Husband rejected the idea of the Ketogenic diet, until his Blood Glucose was 326 and his weight was 260, and his body was showing symptoms of Diabetes on his joints, brain and other body parts. Now he is gleefully joining me in the Ketogenic/Low Carbohydrate and no sugar diet. We keep our Carbohydrates below 25 grams per day. My Husbands Blood Glucose levels were down to 106 today and he has lost 5 pounds. I have lost 2 pounds since we began even though I am eating the no-no foods to get rid of them, although both of us avoid Rice, Pasta, Potatoes, and breads. I have 3 books so far and have linked to www.ketoconnection.net which is full of videos and written recipes. I began taking CBD oil a few months ago and have been able to get my Blood Pressure down to 107/72 It hasn't been that low in over 5 years. It is helping with my pain levels and many other ailments and physical problems related to MS and Fibromyalgia and many other disorders I have been diagnosed with in the last 20 years.

My Goals:
I want to help my husband to lower his Glucose levels and to lose weight. I also want to lose weight myself I am shooting for 30 pounds to start with just to get out of the Obese category. I really see myself and my husband becoming healthier again.


My Program:
I am following a Ketogenic and low carbohydrate diet. We have a treadmill and a Stationary bicycle, that are set up in our dining room ATM.



Personal Information:
I am 58 years old and want to go into my 60's healthy and feeling the very best that I can.


Other Information:
I am disabled and assist online with Counseling as an Ordained Reverend. I am generally very upbeat and Happy.

    Thank you so much for the smiley face goodie. I really needed the smile today as I sprained my ankle. I've been feeling kind of bummed as I've had to spend the day sitting around like a lump instead of doing things I really enjoy, like playing kinect. Hope you had a really great day too. You sure made mine!!

    Thank you for your nice words! As you can imagine, losing the weight for me it wasnt easy either, especially with fibromyalgia. For me, it was essential to set short term goals and take it easy with the workouts, especially at the beginning. I LOVE working out, so I tend to overdo it... which with Fibro can be a big problem.

    I lost the first 30 pounds just counting calories with sparkpeople and working out. The first few months I only did Zumba-low impact 3 times/week. When my body started get use to those, I added impact to those 3, then added a Steps class without the little step and no impact.

    Due to the side effects of the prescription meds for Fibro, I got stuck and eventually gained about 10 pounds, even though by then I was working out 5-6 days/week. After a chemical imbalance that ended in the E.R. due to the pills, I went to a doctor to change the pills, do acupuncture and change my diet. With the doctor and my workouts, I lost the remaining 60 pounds.

    Now I am a Zumba (and Group) Instructor and I'm working out 6 days/week. The most important thing is to find a type of workout that YOU enjoy. For me the group classes work, but for others the treadmill, videos, DVDs, Wii, Kinect are better options; it will all depend on which one you like best and what works for your health conditions.
