I lost 35 pounds last year, gained back 10 over last winter but, holding steady. Even though I am physically, very active, it has been a struggle to jump start my weight loss and keep it going. I want to feel like ME again.

That was in July 2008 when I first joined sparkpeople. Those ten pounds are now gone but, this is October 2008 and I hope they stay gone. 40 pounds to go. I can do this!! Ouick....... hide the Halloween candy!!

July 2009 update: Have gone up and down this year but, have managed to keep those 10 pounds mostly at bay. I exercise like a fool, have lost inches but, still trying to break past that orginal 35 pounds and keep on going. A party here and a vacation there always seem to set me back. Still, alot has changed about the way I look at food and I feel pretty good about that.

December 2009 update: Okay enough fooling around...not gaining is great but, I am getting complacent again. Time to get motivated. Time to get the ticker moving. Time to quit wasting TIME!

May 2010 update: Another damn 10 pounds gained over this past winter. I have been reluctant to update my ticker because I thought it would come right off in March when the warm weather hit. BUT NOOOOOO.......A cold rainy spring has taken the place of those warm teaser days. So, I guess I should just update the darn ticker and get REAL! Incorporating lots of fruits and veggies into smoothies and soup this week IS making a difference...down some today so, I've updated the ticker...we'll see where this goes.

November 2010 update: Oh, this has not been my year for weight loss. Last winter's annual gain of 10 pounds did not melt off in the spring and has become 15. A bad bout with asthma and a new medication have contributed to this but, cannot be the sole blame for the rut I find myself in. Our (too) relaxing food lovers vacation and return to cold weather has led me back to snack attacks. The start of the holidays and the annual reduction in work fitness hours (my teaching hours are always less in the winter) are taking a toll as well.

I have already begun to ramp up my fitness regime by adding back things that have fallen by the wayside such as circuit training and workouts on the Total Gym. My fridge is restocked with nutritious choices and am working at logging consistently. I've updated my ticker and revised my goals. Now, I just have to follow through focus and recreate those good habits that I started with. My new goal is to lose 20 pounds.

On my mark, get set, GO!

2011 was a year of injuries.....two disc blown in my back and muscle tear in the calf. Of course my foot had to flair up, too. Rehab went well but, after that my motivation was low. Up and down, down and up 3 to 5 lbs all year.

Okay so, it's September, 2012. I've decided that if I keep on body will eventually succumb and victory will be mine at last. No really, I've accepted the fact that this is a lifelong thing I have to work at. My goal is still 20lbs. I have accomplished a change in eating habits, I exercise regularly and my clothes fit better but, getting my body to get and stay down past the point that I stopped losing is the biggest challenge for me. So I just keep plugging away.

January 2013...ouch...gained ten pounds since the October. Daughter's wedding (lovely) and a trip to Florida (so fun), the holidays (so much sugar, so little time).... no excuse is going to cut it. It's up to me to decide stay on the wagon. No one puts those sweets into my mouth. I just have to remember how good I feel when my pants fit.

My Goals:
I would like to continue the weight loss I started in '07. 25th wedding aniversary was Oct. 2008 and it felt good to slim down for our. lovely trip . Did really well up until then but, I need to pick up the pace and unstick the scale again.

My Program:
We are a physically active family, biking, walking, swimming and working out. I also teach swimming and water aerobics. Even though we eat pretty healthy foods I am learning to track what I eat and eat treats only in moderation.
