I once again allowed work, stress, family, activities and life to get in the way and be the excuse for falling back to bad habits more than once. I got lazy and believed weight gain happened to me and that I was helpless. Well I am again picking myself up, I am making small incremental changes, I am focusing on re-instating good eating habits and consistent exercise, and although I am not at my target weight, I am determined to stay the course.

I have been overweight on and off for my entire adult (and adolescent) life and I am tired of making excuses for being overweight. I have 2 loving and active teenagers and I needed to have the energy to be able to keep up with them.

I started my journey on Sparks in January of 2011 at just under 200 lbs with great success; I married in October of 2011 and was below 150 lbs and felt AWESOME!..and then after slipping back close to my highest weight, I began again in January of 2016 and now after another slip, starting again in November of 2019. I needed to get back to basics and decided to start with 1 simple goal in mind; implementing permanent healthy eating habits, in other words, eat healthier and you will be healthier! I enlisted family, friends and colleagues to support me in this lifestyle change. THIS IS NOT JUST A DIET.

I remain encouraged and vigilant in my pursuit of making this a permanent change. Of course this does not mean that I don't indulge from time to time; on the contrary, I allow myself to celebrate on occasion with family and friends, guilt-free, knowing that the next day, the habit of eating healthy would be there. This time, balancing my nutritional needs and wants seemed more natural and less of an all-or-nothing sort of goal.

Being healthy is my main motivation...that and feeling as good, perhaps even looking as good as I feel. 😁

My Goals:
This is a lifestyle change, NOT a diet.

My ultimate goal is to be fit and healthy which includes a body weight under 130 lbs. however I need to stay below 145lbs. to stay healthy.

My Program:
1. Love and accept myself
2. Think like a thin person
3. Enjoy life and food WITHOUT guilt - let go of the all-or-nothing attitude
4. Eat mindfully and enjoy REAL food
5. Track my calories, carbs, fat and protein
6. Drink at least 8 cups of water per day
7. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day
