1/27/15 -New Intro:

I've been on this journey for over 3 years. It all started when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. Obviously while I was pregnant I couldn't start exercising but I did watch my food intake. My highest weight before pregnancy was 251lbs. I use that as my starting weight because my pregnancy had nothing to do with how heavy I already was to begin with.

Once I had my son, I began slowly walking 5 days a week and kept eating better. After a couple of months I had lost about 20-25lbs. I was VERY excited but was starting to lose traction so I decided to join SparkPeople for accountability. What I didn't realize was how much I NEEDED SP! The support here is amazing! With the help of SP I was able to get to my lowest (so far) weight as an adult! 178lbs!!! I was over the MOON!


I got pregnant again. And gained almost ALL of my weight back :( Oops...

So here I am! Half way through this journey (AGAIN!) to my ULTIMATE goal weight! I WILL reach my goal this year and I can't wait!

I'm going to start posting my weight on the side of my page for extra accountability. I hope I can inspire as many as possible! Being healthy is so totally worth all the hard work!!!

I was born in Florida, raised in Maryland and now reside in Virginia! I married my best friend in June 2011. We became parents in March 2012 and our family grew by two more feet in April 2014.

    I can't thank you enough for your encouraging words on my blog post the other day! I'm with you about not buying any trigger foods. I just honestly can't trust myself around them, and I know I'm at a weak point right now and don't have all my healthy eating "skills" fully down yet (will I ever?!), so I need to just not even let them be one more hurdle on my path. I love what you said about eating after your kids too. I love the "I'm not a garbage can" mentality! I will absolutely think this every time I even consider polishing off my son's last mini muffin or fruit snack pack. :) I'll also definitely look for some healthier recipe alternatives. I think that's a huge problem for me - relying too much on packaged foods throghout the day and so many not-so-healthy dinner ideas. I need to reach out of my comfort zone - and my son and husband can only benefit, too!
