Starting the Summer 5% Challenge today!
My plan:
Track food and water every day.
Walk at least 10,000 steps
Stick to a whole food plant-based diet as much as possible
Join a fitness center so I can change up workout routines, get some strength training in and build some muscle!
Workout at least 30 minutes every day.
Take a walk outside every day (weather permitting, of course)

It was definitely time to update my page again! I am now 66 and an officially retired Grandma of 9, the oldest of which is gonna make me a great-grandma. (gasp!) I had a total hip replacement in 2011, and finally a total knee replacement on the same side in 2017. Hopefully, I won't need any new parts for a while!
I have fibromyalgia, grave's disease(basically, an overactive thyroid gland which ended up being destroyed by radiation so that now I have to take a thyroid replacement every day) chronic fatigue, sleep apnea, and ADD. I also had restless leg syndrome, but my surgeon said it might clear up after my knee replacement, and it did!
I tried keto back in 2016-2017 and lost weight, but things went a little haywire after my knee surgery, in March 2017. Then at my checkup in June, a heart murmur was detected, which turned out to be a leaky mitral valve. So, I ended up with a cardiologist and a diagnosis of heart failure along with the mitral valve thing. Also, I had high cholesterol from the keto, refused the statin drug they wanted to put me on, and started my vegan adventure, which is now more of a whole food plant-based lifestyle.
And the adventure continues...

My Goals:
Goals? We don't need no stinking goals.... Oh wait, maybe we do! Having vague generalizations of what I'd like to happen isn't really working for me, so..

I am going to lose (eventually) 100 lbs. and get back to a healthy weight.UPDATE 01/02/2021 Well, this was an old goal, and I guess I'm making progress because now it's less than 75 pounds!

I am going to learn how to incorporate exercise into every day, even if it's only 10 minutes. UPDATE; 01/2/2021 Well, this has been upgraded to at least 30 minutes a day, so I've succeeded here, too. Whoo-hoo!

I am going to seriously get into this goal-setting stuff so that I can be more organized and productive.UPDATE; 01/02/2021. Work in progress...LOL


My Program:

I have been tracking my food here since I started; it's been very helpful. This is vital for my weight loss efforts.

I am committing to doing at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, mostly it's more than that.

01//2021: I joined the 5% challenge! I've never done a challenge before, so I'm looking forward to it. Something new for the new year.



Personal Information:
Moved back to OH in December 2012 after living in Florida for 14 years. It was those 9 grandchildren....
Sometimes I really miss it, mostly in the wintertime, of course! I would love to figure out how to be a snowbird....


Other Information:
I love to read, mostly science fiction/fantasy. I love drumming, drum circles, nature, herding dogs, historical reenacting, organic food, Mother Earth, being green, all kinds of music.
