*I've spent way too long letting my weight get in the way of what I want to do and who I want to be.
*It's time to take control of my health so I can feel like myself again.

Saw this on a SparkFriend's blog and loved it:

So I'm going to put a little more "umph" into it and make it to my goal this time.

My Goals:
Obvious goal - lose 100+ lbs.

Not-so-obvious ones:

-feel energetic and sexy again

-find exercise that I actually enjoy doing

-truly adopt a healthy lifestyle and stop the obsessive, all-or-nothing mentality that I always seem to fall into when I'm "dieting"

My Program:
Eating plan: based on South Beach diet, with occasional adjustments to make it work for me and my lifestyle. I'm in this for the long term, not just a quick fix, so my plan needs to be healthy AND sustainable.

Exercise-wise, I want to do a complete 180 from where I've been for most of my life. (I will have to make that turnaround gradually though!) I want to work up to doing 1 hour or more of some form of exercise at least 6 days a week.

I've never been athletic, and I only enjoy the outdoors when it's warm out. So I'm going to incorporate the following activities into my life, and each day I'll choose the one(s) that appeal to me most or fit in best that day:

- Zumba (my new fav!!)
- walking (outside or treadmill, or "Walk Away the Pounds" DVDs)
- weight training
- Tae bo/kickboxing (DVDs)
- Wii Fit
- tennis
- biking
- hiking
- yoga
- pilates

and anything else that sounds fun to try!

Personal Information:
I'm 47 years old and I live on Long Island, NY with my husband of 21 years and our 3 teenagers. I work 35 hours a week for a software company in addition to being a full-time Mom, wife and "taxi driver", so life is kind of hectic around here and I don't have much "me" time. But I'm trying very hard right now to get my priorities in order. I need to find a balance that will allow me to focus enough on myself to lose this weight and improve my health and quality of life. You know what they say about putting your oxygen mask on first before assisting others...

    Hi Diane.... I see that you 'started' back at the beginning of September. Me too!! I had to laugh (cause I didnt want to cry) at your blog about coming home from vacation and realizing how much better it could've been if your health was better. I, too, went on vacation the third week of August and came home and cringed at the pics of me on the beach!! I did cry then.... I just cant believe I choose to live like this. Well, no more! September 4th I re-commited and have been going strong! Hope are doing well now that you have a new groove!! Love it!!
