I stumbled upon this site when I was looking for Diet/Fitness/Nutrition Information. I watched a video about it and decided to join. I plan to spend some time looking around and want to begin some kind of diet/fitness/weight loss plan this week ... probably the day after Labor Day (2008).

I have set/reset my goals here several times - I have had successes and setbacks ... but this site seems to keep me 'on track' ~ even if I 'stray' every now and again. I have actually lost 25 lbs. and as a result, reached my goal - but, slowly, over time I got 'lazy' and gained it all back! I find that as you get older, it is more difficult to lose - so, it is nobody's fault but my own, but this will take some work!

In 2018 I celebrated my 10 Year 'SparkVersary'. After all this time, I still discover new things and 'meet' new SparkFriends. I'm a constant 'work in progress' ... with the help of SparkPeople, of course!!!

My Goals:
I started here in September, 2008 with a goal to get into shape and lose 24-25 lbs. I've achieved my goal in the past, but didn't pay attention all the time and I need to get back to and re-focus on that first goal (getting there and sticking to it).

My main goal is to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Healthy, sensible eating and exercise is exactly what is needed!

12/31/18: Additional Incentive: DD got ENGAGED!!! Its still early in the process, but the wedding will be in the Summer, 2020. Gotta look good in those 'Mother of the Bride' pictures! I just HAVE to Keep Sparking!!!


My Program:
In 2010, I found the 5% Challenges. These Challenges, along with some common sense eating/exercising are some of the things that have helped me most on this journey to create a 'healthier' me.

As an additional resource, (and a present to myself), I signed up for SparkCoach and began that feature on 1/1/17.

I'm an active member of the 5% Challenges, in addition, I serve as a Co-Leader of the Challenges.

For the 2019 Fall 5% Challenge, I plan to exercise a minimum of 3 times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes. Also, when the weather allows, I plan to get out and walk during my lunch breaks. I plan to follow a 'Keto Lifestyle' with some allowances for seasonal fruits and vegetables ('Lazy Keto', if you will). I will steer clear of carbs and sugars. I'm not 100% sure about staying with 'Keto' but until I find something that works better (for me), I will continue to follow Keto guidelines.

~My favorite thing to do is be with and take care of my family.
~DD got ENGAGED on 12/31/18!!! It is wedding planning 'season' in our family - 2020 Wedding is happening!
~I love theatre, especially musical theatre. I am even happier when I share going to the theatre with my DD.
~I work for a hospital Foundation.
~I'm an active member (and past VP and Secretary) of our local Woman's Club.

    I'm involved in hospital development too - why do fundraisers all involve food??? Congrats on finding SparkPeople - i just found it while looking for a calorie counter and I'm loving it!! I hope you'll like it too - it really amazes the difference it has made in keeping me on track. I'm in the SP Class of 8/31 too! Keep posting - i find it really helps (either to vent, celebrate or just whine!) emoticon
