Hi I'm Cynthia! **WELCOME** to my page!

2020...Good bye to a year that was strange. While it was an okay year for me, it was devastating for so many. My thoughts and prayers to all whom have been sick from Covid, are sick, or lost friends or family from it. Prayers for the lonely, faint at heart, weary, and scared. May 2021 be a happier year, full of love and peace.

I don't set new years resolutions. I do look for things to make a happier and more positive.

Now when I mean happy I don't mean goody goody happy joy everything's perfect and wonderful. I mean happy as in to be content and thankful even in the difficult circumstances. To find my Happiness and Joy in the Lord, not just during the Good times, but through the Trials as well.. Life is hard at times, but through Jesus Christ we can walk in victory.

This year I want to continue my focus on my mental health. That's been my focus for quite some time. Trying to manage symptoms of depression, increase positive activities and self care.

I've been a sparkler here for about 12 years now. It's been quite the journey. I started out at 170 my highest weight ever and I was ready to do whatever it took to lose the weight. (healthy ways) After a couple of years I came so close to my goal weight of 130 lbs. I felt on top of the world, but it was short lived. I have struggled with Binge Eating Disorder for years and it reared its ugly head and I all but gave up. Needless to say I have regained all of the weight back + a few more. (Current weight December of 2019 is 189 pounds) I've also struggled with Fibromyalgia and arthritis the past 9 years. making it very difficult to function and do daily tasks which includes exercise. But I believe through Christ I can do ALL things. I can and will overcome!

My biggest accomplishment is that on February 29,2008 I quit smoking and with that came the gift of being able to breathe. That gift of fresh air opened the door to this journey!

I came to Spark People lonely, sad, frustrated with myself about the shape I had let myself get into. I didn't know a thing about fitness and nutrition, but in the years that I have been here I have learned a lot. I might not always follow the path that leads to victory, but I try where I can from veering too far off. And even when I seem to be falling from a cliff...He is there to catch me and get me back on track.....and so are my wonderful SP friends! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support!

Again: I CAN and WILL succeed and so CAN YOU!!

2019 is nearly at a close. Part of the year (and last year) I really struggled with depression and anxiety. Fortunately the past couple of months the depression has improved. For that I am incredibly grateful! Another blessing is that the fibromyalgia has also improved. I still have days with pain, but they are much fewer and far between. The fatigue continues to be with me. I've learned that napping when necessary and listening to my body are very important to self care.

My goals this past year were not focused on weight loss. They mostly pertained to improving self care and dealing with my depression and anxiety. I 've not made goals for 2020. I do know they will be small steps to be healthier. And I am talking teeny tiny baby steps.

Thanks for the encouragement! It is nice to know that I am not the only one who forgets to eat! I will have a semi-binge day if I go too many days without eating, also. emoticon

That is so awesome that you quit smoking! What an accomplishment!! emoticon

Thanks for your heartfelt comment on my blog. It is very tragic, but we are doing okay and will get through it.

Thanks again for watching the "team" as well. emoticon

Oh, and the wedding reception wasn't too bad, we actually had a lot of fun. Maybe the few glasses of wine helped with the socializing.... I hope you had a good time as well.

    Hello, Cynthia!
I'd like to personally thank you for all the support you've been giving to me (and to Becky) on the "Dealing With The Anxiety" group. Yesterday I had one of my bad days, but it was nice to read your answer on our thread. This kind of thing makes me feel full of hope, and as long as there are people like you in the world, there will be something worth believing.

    Thank you a lot!

Hi Cynthia!! What are you going to buy with the money you have saved from not buying cigarettes? You are really doing something special, ya know. Not every shmuck can do what you're doing. Did we go to the moon because it was easy? No, we went because it was hard. Remember that. Your buddy, Patty
