I used to be the skinny much so that my nickname was Q-tip. I could eat anything I wanted and it seemed to evaporate. Fast forward a few years, replace the bike with a car, subtract most my free time, add a husband and the discovery of chicken fried steak. I steadily crept up to obesity.

Since recommitting to my health I am following Tim Ferriss' 4 Hour Body Slow Carb Diet (vegetarian version) and I've lost 30 of the 40 pounds that I need to lose. My cholesterol is down. I have finished a half marathon (the knees still say no to running).

I still have more weight to lose, but I am happy with the progress I've made and appreciate the resources here that help me do it.

Fitness Minutes: 21,827

My Goals:
1. Reduce weight to 145 lbs. before the end of the world.

2. Maintain cholesterol at 238 using diet alone.

3. Recover from serious financial setbacks of the past two-three years.

4. The fourth one is just for me!

My Program:
1. 4 Hour Body Slow Carb Diet (vegetarian).

2. Exercise: treadmill walking, spark videos and yoga.

3.. First, I am starting with what I CAN control. I am becoming better organized and eliminating "stupid stress" from my life. (I really like that phrase).

4. I am doing more leisure reading and writing in my journal. I burned out on reading for pleasure when I finished my last year of college. I miss it.

Personal Information:
I grew up in Santa Cruz, California, lived in eastern Nebraska for a while, and came back to California in 2000. Now I live in rural Monterey County.

    Thank you for the get-well wish! I am finally feeling better. Today, I was actually productive...laundry, dishes, and cooking. I guess I got too confident, because I missed a step near the bottom of the stairs and took a rather hard fall! Left shoulder and hip are now aching and bruised.

    Thanks for the comment. I am definitely getting some rest. Went to the gym yesterday and did arms and 15 minutes of starimaster but today was sleep in day. My legs are still so sore, I think it even hurts to look at them! I wanted to get the most out of my 7 day pass, but the legs need the rest more than I need to stroke my pride.

    Oh, yes, I was missing the freedom, too! So, instead of being like you and blogging about it, I fell off the wagon while traveling. You are smart to reach out for support! So, I am here to remind you , just like Mary have come so far and are so close to goal! Remind yourself of your past success, and just hold fast until you get to cheat day. I guess with SCD, you have to take it week to to week...or cheat day to cheat day? Interesting what you said about not missing the meat, but I think that is the beauty of SCD and a tribute to what you have accomplished thus far: finding a SCD-vegetarian plan that works for you!
