Hello and welcome to my page. I want this page to be a place for sharing your crochet experiences while acheiving your weightloss goals.

My Weight Loss Journey:

I was a pretty skinny kid up until age 14, then I started working and eating from fast food places or hoagie shops. In my 20s I my weight yoyo'ed, partly due to eating out and partying. After I had my first son, I decided to lose weight (at age 32). I went from 182 lbs to 128 lbs, and then I found out I was pregnant with my second child. After he was born I got down to 137 lbs and competed in the Mrs. New Jersey beauty pageant (first and last time :-)). Overtime, I gradually gained weight over the years until I moved to Arkansas.

In 2004, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had three lumpectomies that October and in November a mastectomy of my left side with reconstruction. I had to go through chemo for 4 months (boy, was I a pretty sight.:-)). In 2006, I had to have a hysterectomy because the estrogen inhibitor I had been taking to make sure I didn't have a breast cancer recurrence caused an ovarian cyst, and the doctor felt could turn to cancer.

Recently, my weight issues were making it hard for me to breathe and were causing me to suffer from acid reflux and intestinal woes perpetually. I dealt with them for at least a year. I hated shopping for clothes and could not bear to look at myself in the mirror. It was a very depressing time.

One day in June 2008, I sat in front of my computer and searched for a free on-line diet Web site and hit on SparkPeople. I knew this was the right place and time to start.

As of this writing, I have lost 10 lbs. My acid reflux is gone and my breathing is not strained anymore. I'm so glad I found this site and when the topic of weight loss comes up in conversation, I am quick to share information about SparkPeople.

I want to thank all those People who have dedicated their time and money to provide this wonderful and FREE service (including the wonderful motivators and friends).

    It's been a long time since I've been on my Spark page. Last year I was back up to 206 lbs. In May at 203 lbs, I started to really get serious about getting fit. This time I was successful in doing so. I started eating better by going on a DIET. Yes, I told my husband abd sons, I was going on a diet and they had to deal with it. They were going to eat what I made and suppliment their meals on their own. I went on a diet that was low carb, low fat and high in protein. I made sure I was getting my daily water intake of 6-8 glasses a day.

    Later that month, I decided to add walking to my routine. I started out only able to do 10 mins, but quickly increased the time. I currently walk alternating with small amounts of running for a total of 10,000 plus steps a day 4-5 times a week.

    So, you might be asking how much do I weight now? Well I fluctuate from 147 to 151 lbs.

    This time, I am sticking to it!

    I hope you all get to your goals. Find something that works for you. Sometimes all the advice out there can be daunting. Find what WORKS for YOU.

    Smaller goals are a great idea! Much easier to see progress!
    I set a large goal for February, 2015 - running the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. I have a lot of small goals before I can reach that one. I hope I can stay on track!

    Hey! How are you doing? I am doing so much better! Some friends at boot camp started on myfitness pal and we have been tracking our food together, working out together and talking about recipes and stuff. I have been improving my eating and it is helping. emoticon
