April 6, 2020: Maybe it is time to return to Spark. I got irritated at it a year or more ago and dropped out. No change in my life, really after that. Same old life, A few more surgeries, awful family member, new cat. Betsy and Chauncey have crossed the rainbow bridge.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .

This is my old stuff that I will eventually update:

How you do anything is how you do everything...but don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

"Nobody wins unless everybody wins."

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.- Anonymous

"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." Einstein

Life does gets complicated all of a sudden, but then it calms down in the ebb and flow of growth. Then it cycles all over again, rinse and repeat forever and ever.

I am 67, an Aquarius, live alone and work full-time.

My Goals:

Just to lose some more poundage. Any amount is fine!

Watching what I eat, trying to stay at 1200 calories a day until I have lost a lot more weight and trying to exceed my current 5,000 steps a day with my FitBit. I use LoseIt.com to record my food and FitBit.com for my steps. I use Spark as my motivator and really appreciate any interaction with my SP buddies.

I haven't seen price gouging up here, although food prices have risen slightly I think. I am usually buying twice as much food as I normally do so I don't have to return to town too often to experience the stress of seeing people in masks and standing in lines to wait to get into the grocery store and the general paranoia. On May 11, some businesses will re-open, like dentists and other services that are deemed almost essential.
The Canadian gov't has been playing it safe and encouraging everyone to help flatten the curve (and it is working!! Yay!!) by wearing masks when out in public, washing our hands often and social distancing, unlike trump, who is encouraging people to "somehow clean it internally," or as I like to say, "drink bleach." I was absolutely stunned to hear how many people in NYC actually succumbed to bleach poisoning less than 24 hours after that idiot's statement, which he then tried to pass off as being "sarcastic."
Thankfully because of social medicine, we won't be in the same position as NY or Boston, but still our medical system is overwhelmed, so there are bans on certain things (like having an open fire, interprovincial travel) and people are being encouraged to not further overwhelm the system by being idiots or daredevils that might land them up in a hospital.
The entire world's economy is in the tank. It's not just the states. Everyone is being affected, not just US citizens.
The Canadian border is closed to all international travel. For 3-4 weeks we weren't allowed to travel outside of our municipality and it was all in an effort to keep the virus from spreading. Unfortunately Montreal is an epicentre (possibly THE epicentre) for COVID 19. Many people in Montreal are getting sick and the numbers keep rising. Because of this, the re-opening of any businesses in Montreal is being delayed until possibly June.
According to the census of 2012, we have about 70,000 people are directly employed by the Canadian fur trade. There are roughly 60,000 active trappers in Canada, including 25,000 Aboriginal people. The number of licensed trappers varies from year to year and has ranged up to 80,000 since the mid-1990s.
