I've really struggled over the past few years with my weight (well for a long time now). I lost my pregnancy weight after the birth of my son, he's almost 7 now. But when my mom passed away in 2009, I lost all control and will-power. I developed very bad habits, got out of control with my eating and lost my drive. Mind you, I put everything into my career and that portion of my life has flourished! I am doing better than fantastic in my career, but my health and weight are now coming back to kick me in the butt for neglecting them during this time. I've developed multiple health problems, including depression and was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect which limits my ability to work out and do activities that I had previously. That diagnosis also contributed to my depression and feelings of defeat. If I can't get my heart rate above 140, how on earth am I going to lose weight? No hiking, biking, running, fast walking, getting nervous, no anything that gets my heart beat too elevated. That had me thinking, "that's it, I'll never be able to lose weight now." Plus, I believe the medications I am currently on have caused me to gain a significant amount of weight. In 2013, at my lowest, I weighed 209 lbs and now I weigh 247lbs. I lost weight before my heart defect was discovered.

The only way to fail is to give up. Whatever comes, whatever happens, keep going.

Fix your eyes on the goal, and persist. Your vision, your commitment, and your actions will take you there.

When you can make great big strides, make them. When you can take only small steps, take them.

See every moment as the opportunity that it is. When the wind is at your back, keep going, and when the wind is blowing against you, keep going.

Make good and effective use of whatever you encounter. Tap into the positive value that is always there.

Know precisely where you wish to go and why. Keep going, and you are there.

"How would your life be different if . . . You were conscious about the food you ate, the people you surround yourself with, and the media you watch, listen to, or read? Let today be the day . . . You pay attention to what you feed your mind your body, and your life. Create a nourishing environment conducive to your growth and well-being today."

Crowd out poor health habits. Choose activity before TV. Eat 3 veggies first for each meal. You will crowd out the less healthy choices.
