I'm a 43 year old teacher, married 13 years, and mom to 3 boys, ages 12, 9 and 7. I started my weight loss journey in January 2007. The previous summer I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and a bone spur on my left heel. Knowing that this condition would not likely improve on its own, I decided to make yet another attempt to lose weight in order to avoid surgery. I joined a group of online friends and digital scrapbookers in the Biggest Loser Digi-Style, joined a gym, and hired a personal trainer to work with me twice a month. The last two years have been an incredible, life changing experience for me. I have lost nearly 80 pounds and have become stronger and healthier than I've ever been in my life! After months of treatment for my heel, including orthotics, a specially made brace, and cortisone shots, I got the good news that no surgery is required! I've even taken up running, something that I never expected to do... and I completed my first 5K race on Mother's Day 2008. What a wonderful gift to myself! I then ran in 2 more 5K races and a 10K during the summer of 2008. I've never been prouder of myself than when I crossed that finish line, having run the entire way! I've struggled a bit in the past few months and haven't lost much weight, but I continue to be consistent with exercise (I go to the gym at 4am, so that should give you an idea of how committed I am to working out!) and know that persistence will eventually get me to my goal weight. I started the ZONE diet plan in January 2009 and have since lost 14 pounds... nearing my goal weight at last!

My Goals:
I'm looking to lose about 15 more pounds, and then I'll see if I'm happy where I'm at. Never in my adult life have I worn size 8, so that's what I'm aiming for!

I've registered for my first ever 5K race in May, and my goal is to run it in 32 minutes or less. (ETA: I competed in my first race on Mother's Day, and my time was 35:06. Although I didn't make my original goal, I was very happy with my time, especially since I was recovering from a hip injury and hadn't done any running in the 6 weeks prior to the race.)
My newest goal is to complete a women's only mini triathalon in the summer of 2009 in my hometown.

My Program:
I've been participating in the Biggest Loser Digi-style challenge since January 2007, where I'm accountable to my team. I work with a trainer twice a month at the gym, and he has developed a strength and cardio program for me to help me reach my goals. I go to the gym 5 or 6 days a week and am loving it!

    Hey sis I just wanted to sprinkle some CHEERS your way. Well, how you doin? I hope all is FAB with you as it is with me. Guess what ? ? I dropped another 3.5 pounds this weigh-in. YES I DID.. with a total of 48.7 pounds GONE. Yayaahhh! I can already see it 50 POUNDS GONE!! LOL. I am so kickn' butt in the gym so I can rock it out FIERCE on my birthday! We are makin' it happen. Keep pushn' forward and making each day count. Gett'em BOO!

    Thank you so much for the stationary bike goodie and for the support for my first triathlon! ♥

    How does PF doing? I got a few steroid injections but it doesn't seem to be improving my condition... Although I don't have heel spur (yet - Podiatrist says it is only a matter of time) I was told that surgery to loosen up nerves in my foot - I also have Neuromitis - might be needed...

    I am about to start Physical Therapy to see if it helps. I will be lucky if I can run at all this year... Ugh!
