SUNNYCALIGIRL
You asked for suggestions about adopting a new cat.. (Since I am the administrator for Crazy About Cats, I sincerely hope I sent you a sympathy goodie for your loss of Stormy. If I did not PLEASE accept my condolences on behalf of the group and most of all from me personally).
Are you driving to visit your family? Is it possible you could transport a new cat and that your family would accommodate the needs of a new cat?
It might be best to wait awhile longer until you return from the visit. Cats are susceptible to contracting the virus from people, so you might want to wait quite awhile until you are sure your new cat would not have to struggle with a possibly quarantined owner, This is something I am struggling with, as my veterinarian is currently not accepting boarding and I don't have anyone I could trust to look after my cat if i became ill, since most veterinarians are recommending owners separate from their pets in the event that they become sick. I can not possibly separate myself from my cat in my small apartment, it just wouldn't work. I am really distressed that I might put my cat a risk if I became ill.
It's really all up to you I know how hard it is to be without a cat. Good luck, I am sure you will make the best decision. 188 days ago
