I'm now a 61 yr old, divorced woman, retired nurse, living with daily back pain from an accident 12 yrs ago that left me with a fractured back and 3 herniated discs. Had surgery twice, have 2 rods and hardware in my back to stablize but everyday is a challenge. I've gained 35 lbs in the past 2 years hardly eating anything but have felt overweight the past 40 years. Finally getting a small amount of disability but still living with my son (bless his heart) and feeling guilty about it. I tried this program over a year ago and faded without much result so I haven't been around for over a year. Health is MUCH worse and I MUST do something now.
"Help me, Sparkpeople...You're my only hope" (get it?) At least sense of humor is still intact...It's "DO OR DIE" time!

Fitness Minutes: 735

My Goals:
*to be able to easily and happily exercise 4-5 times per week.
*loose 55 pounds (also taking pressure off my back and neck).
*to go vegetarian when the time is right.
*make a life for myself, independently.
*figure out a way to pay back my son for all he has done for me.

My Program:
pre-diabetes plan since I was just diagnosed as this. Hope to go mostly vegetarian someday.

Personal Information:
My name is Maggie, originally from northern California, now living in South Carolina with my youngest son, who coaches college football here. I was a nurse for 24 yrs, married for 10 yrs, giving me 3 children and then married 25 yrs and basically lost everything. Now I am restarting this program because of serious NEW conditions just Dx in December(finally got health insurance and found all this out-yipee!)

Other Information:
I can't continue in nursing anymore so I retired and unfortunately did so at the worst possible time, with this economy BUT I've always loved writing and now I am going after that goal with all my heart. If anyone has any connections with a good publisher or agent, please let me know. It's almost impossible to "get in" without some kind of intro unless your a celebrity or a reality star.

    emoticon Hi and thank you for the friend add. I have added you too! Weight loss while ill is hard, usually it doesn't happen because the body is focused on restoring health, not buring fat. Get well first, lost of rest & water. Once you're better, begin to make healthy food choices and get moving, moving, moving!
