Introduction Text I am a Catholic homeschooling mom of three beautiful kids - well, not homeschooling anymore. I was. My baby, Danny, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) in March of 2013. Since then he underwent two brain surgeries, six weeks of radiation, and over a year of chemotherapy. He was in remission for a few brief months, and then relapsed. Next he had another brain surgery and then completed a year of very difficult chemotherapy, with multiple nasty side effects. After that year, he had three blessed, beautiful years of no evidence of cancer. That ended on March 15, 2019, when he had a seizure at school, which led to a diagnosis of relapsed, inoperable, terminal cancer. That relapse, in early 2019, was successfully treated with chemo that made the cancer disappear. It bought us a year of grace. That year ended in February of 2020, when an MRI showed that the cancer was back. There was really no treatment possible. My beautiful, beloved son Danny died of brain cancer on April 17, 2020, at home, holding his big brother's hand. He was 19 years old. "If you get there before I do Don't give up on me. I'll meet you when my chores are through. I don't know how long I'll be But I'm not gonna let you down. Danny wait and see. And between now and then, till I see you again I'll be loving you. Right now my goals are to incorporate small healthy changes. One other goal is to be able to exercise without severe pain in my hip...not sure if that is feasible with my arthritis.

I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, plus walking as much as I can without pain.

I am originally an Army brat and have lived in quite a few places. Currently I am in Texas. I have three kids, ages 30, 27, and forever 19. My degrees are in chemistry, but in late years I have mostly been employed in child care.

Strength of character isn't always about how much you can handle before you break, it's also about how much you can handle after you've broken. Author unknown (at least to me)
