Next month we will have been an AZ for 3 years. I am still trying to become a successful gardener. Desert gardening is a 180 degree turn from the lush landscape and plants I have been familiar with. I have been guilty of planticide in trying to landscape my yard and garden.
We live at the base of Catalina mountains and I love looking at them in the different light and shadows during the day.
There are many species of animals that we see in our yard. Gamble quail, white wing doves, humming birds, rabbits, lizards, coyotes, the neighborhood bobcat, and rattlers.
We have had many challenges since we moved. Health, pool issues, house issues, money issues, deaths of family members
just to list a few broad categories. I believe better times are still ahead.
This was my post in 2016 I am updating my page as we moved from upstate NY to Tucson AZ. I am still unpacking and have yet to start back up finding a fitness center or exploring the facilities were we are renting. I will miss my team mates and friends in NYState. The information that follows was where I was and the wonderful support group that I left. I am competing as a team member with a great group of women. Our program is called Dare to Lose! There are some similarities to the biggest loser. We meet twice a week for 1 1/2 hours with our trainers, have challenges and weigh ins and are responsible for watching our food intake and exercising at least 2 more times a week. Each session is 8 weeks long so there is a mix of newcomers and those who have participated in earlier sessions. There is a lot of positive support from both the participants, trainers and other fitness center members. We are working hard at getting fit and losing weight.

No fruit trees, 95 pine and 2 Maple trees, and 6 Ashes, that we will probably have to take down as they have the Ash Bore and are dying, so I just use Cherry pie filling and the same topping I use for apple crisp, but usually don't add the teaspoon of cinnamon.

Indeed it was a good conclusion. I wasn't sure how it would work out, but I knew I could trust them. I'm still smiling. Thanks for stopping by.

here you go...Hogmanay is what we Scots call New Year's Eve - 31 December - the big night that marks the arrival of the new year. Its origins reach back to the celebration of the winter solstice among the Vikings with wild parties in late December. Traditional gifts include a lump of coal to lovingly place on the host's fire, along with shortbread, a black bun and whisky to toast to a Happy New Year. These days shortbread and whisky will suffice. Showing up empty handed is not only very rude but also bad luck!
