Hi! My name is Mel and I am 26 years old. I am tired of letting my weight decide what i do with my life. I'm embarrassed to even admit how many things my weight has kept me from doing. Last year I was at my heaviest weight- 204 pounds. When they finally weighed me at the dr.s office I was so humiliated.

My Dr. said, "Melanie, when they take your blood pressure, from now on tell them that they have to use a size large cuff."

I had avoided scales b/c I was in denial. They put me on a liquid weight loss plan that I paid for out-of-pocket. It was very expensive. I was on a tight budget but I paid for it anyway.. in cash. $145 a week.

I lost a total of 4 pounds in 30 days. Not worth it. Especially since they had told me all these stories about how they themselves had lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks. I quit the program. I decided I could do the same plan on my own.. and much cheaper.

Something I learned from the liquid diet was how much food is always in our faces. When you can not eat ANYTHING other than the pre-mixed shakes your doctor gives you, you see exactly how much food is tempting us every day. I realized you can buy food almost everywhere, on every corner. No wonder weight loss is so hard for us.

My Goals:
I want to go back to school.. Still not sure what I want to do yet though. Other than losing weight I'd also like to work on being a healthier person overall.

Ultimate Super Dream Goals:
~Wear a 2 piece bikini
~Fit into a size 6
~Have a healthy blood pressure reading every time I get it checked

My Program:
I'm eating about 1200-1400 calories a day. I use Jillian Michaels 30 day shred 5 days a week. Sometimes I do levels 1 & 2 back to back.
I am not cutting out any specific food groups yet.

Personal Information:
I very recently quit smoking. I smoked at least a pack a day since I was 20. I used the patch for 2 weeks and I haven't smoked since.
Non-Smoker since 1/1/11

Other Information:
I have a million hobbies & interests. so I prob like something that you like.. and if not I'd love to learn about it!

    I have been in BLC for 11 of last 13 rounds. I am hypothyroid, so I have lots of trouble losing and keeping my weight off. I am 58, knocking on the 60s, and want to be able to be healthy enough to do all the traveling and adventuring I have wanted to when I retire.

    I am here to emoticon you to BLC21 and be a help if yro need any. Hope you meet lots of new firends along the way. This BLC is filled with persons from around the globe and porbably all 50 states. It is exciting to learn what people eat and how they exercise in different areas.
