Update: I am currently a 49 year old mother of a retired rock star, and a daughter of Christ. 4 kids, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and a compulsive need to be a peace-keeper, which is not an easy job. I am warrior currently fighting the battle of the bulge (I may be losing), the aging process (I may be winning) and a teenage daughter (I AM winning...she just doesn't know it). I hope that not only my successes but my failures as well, will inspire, encourage, and motivate others on their journeys. Update: I’ve been a “success story” here on SparkPeople after losing 110 pounds. I have learned that maintenance is harder than losing, and weight has crept back on. After gaining 50 pounds back, I’ve been struggling to lose it. Currently, Im finding success with a combination of Intermittent Fasting (16/8) and low carb (not Keto). Whatever works. Update: 12/2018 New Year ahead and hopefully a new me. Still Intermittent Fasting but rather than low carb, I’m headed to a plant-based lifestyle. No longer eat red meat. Eventually I will give up animal proteins altogether. I suggest people educate themselves. Our meat-obsessed culture cannot be sustained. And cancer cells feed of animal proteins. The China Study...30 years of research cannot be discredited.

Fitness Minutes: 116,561

My Goals:
I want to be physically fit, and feel good about about myself. I told my doctor I'd love to be the weight I was in H.S., but that is probably unrealsistic. She said, "You can do anything you set your mind to." And she's right.

My Program:
Elimating all those simple carbs, watching my portion sizes, eating every few hours to keep the metabolism up and drinking plenty of water. And don't forget about getting active. I'm aiming for at least 150 minutes of cardio per week. I don't hate exercise, but cardio feels best when it's over. I'm also doing strength training cause I love muscular legs, and for a woman my size, I have really poor upper body strenghth. That needs to change!

Personal Information:

I live in hot and humid Miami, and working out from May-October is absolutely dreadful.

I spent a ton of money earning a degree in Fine Art, and wound up becoming a housewife. No kids hand in incredible-looking it paid off.

Other Information:
I love cooking (which is how I got fat) and photography. Too busy to do much else. Some day, I would love to paint again.

    I live in Edmonton, AB, CAN, so we only have usually about 1 month of really hot weather, which I am NOT complaining about... I'm really not one who loves heat! Where are you? We do actually have at least one outdoor pool in the city and am hoping that we can get there this year! When I was young, our town only had an outdoor pool and I loved taking swim lessons there! We have a good friend that has a house in a gated community in Carlsbad, CA and have been there a few times. There is a big pool there too and love to use it when we are there! That sounds amazing... having your "own" pool!

    Glad to hear that you are getting better AND that you are still able to work out, at least a little!! You said that you missed the pool because of a thunderstorm? do you swim in an outdoor pool? I would love that! There is one in the city, but a LOT farther than the pool I usually go to!

    How do you spell your daughter's name? That's very cool! I don't meet many people with the same name as me!... except in our church and in the last month, I have met 2 others! but none spelled the same way!
