Okay. I'm getting back on track. In 2008 I lost 45 pounds with the help of Spark People. I quit tracking regularly during the fall of 2008, but maintained the weight loss. I told myself that if the scale started ooching up, I would begin tracking again.

Then life got really crazy. From the death of a co-worker to the firing of my boss, health issues with my parents and community members, and my own perimenopausal hormonal hell, I lapsed into mindless eating and have regained about 20 pounds. Grrr. Time to get serious, because I am NOT going to buy bigger pants!

My Goals:
Lose weight:

Long-term goal 55+ pounds.

Short-term goals

1. Back **comfortably** into my skinniest pants

2. Out of "obese" BMI (185 for me)

3. My drivers license weight (170--it's been at least 15 years!)

4. The final frontier: 150 or below, at a healthy BMI


My Program:
Walk or bike 30+ minutes at least 4 days per week.

Track food intake (brutal honesty required!) Measure & weigh what I eat. Portion control!

Flat Belly Diet (more or less!) Basically eating fresh, whole foods, under 1600 calories per day divided into 3 meals & a snack, including a MUFA with each meal.

I'm a high school teacher and a Benedictine nun since 1985. Check out my community website at www.mountosb.org

St. Benedict advises moderation in all things, but my own life does not always reflect a healthy balance, especially in terms of diet and exercise.


Other Information:
I love to knit, read, work crossword puzzles (NY Times, especially) and listen to NPR.
