Well, yesterday I attended a beauty pageant, surrounded by "beautiful"people. I have been chubby all my life. Always maybe ten pounds overweight. Never really anymore than that. I weighed only 128 lbs. when I got pregnant for the first time.

Never have I thought of myself as fat, until now, only because I really am. I took a really good look in the mirror and I didn't like what I saw, AT ALL. My family doesn't fuss at me, but I'm worried about me now. There was a past pageant contestant there that won in 1959. She was 70 years old. She looked better than I do. I don't have any health issues, at least not yet. I noticed my ankle was a little swollen over the weekend. I have got to get rid of this weight!

I am looking forward to taking it off in the coming weeks with "The Biggest Grandma Loser Challenge". I hope everyone does well. I want to be around for many, many more years to come, and I know it's gonna take some work, but I figure I have to do it now. I'm 53. In 8 months I'll be 54. Time seems to go so much faster as we get older, and before you know it I'll be 60, 70, 80....... That's a lot of years left, so I have to get healthy now, so I can stay healthy!!! I would love to hold my great grandchildren!!

My Goals:
I want to get back to a comfortable weight. One where I'm able to go out and horse around with the kids and the grandkids.

My Program:
Following a low calories, lots of exercise program that I make up as I go along, based on info from years ago when I was in Weight Watchers. It really seems to work.

Personal Information:
Wife, mom of 7, grandma of 3 (so far). Love dogs and cats (but I'm allergic to cats!) and most other animals. Love to cook, hence my weight problem!

    Welcome to Grandmas on the Lose - as you see, we are a very supportive and chatty team. We also love to brag about our grandbabies, so don't be shy about that. I appreciate all your comments - I agree with a lot of what you say; you and I have a lot in common (check out my Spark page). Also, to add photos, just go to that section of your Sparkpage, click on it, and then click browse- that will bring up your computer sections and you can go to wherever you have your online photos - just click on one and hit download. Then it will give you the opportunity to put a caption on it too.

    Glad you joined us. You can do it. I joined Weight Watchers for about 6 months but it was kinda expensive and I didn't get a lot out of it. I did lose weight but we didn't have fun. I have joined TOPS and have a blast. SP is a lot of fun too. Join the challenges, chats, and other things offered. Keep a food journal and the many other things offered and it does help. This is a healthy way to lose and it helps to have encouragement from others to keep on the right track.
