The great Aristocle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." I try to apply these philosophical words in both my personal and professional life.
It is my belief that our beliefs are driven by our thoughts, which ultimately fuel our actions. Those actions, which we repeatedly do, ultimately define who we are, and who we will become.

My name is Meg and I am 47 years old. On March 27, 2010, I embarked upon a journey to lose weight and achieve overall fitness by embracing an active and healthy lifestyle. So I've joined this community for information, inspiration, motivation, and support.

Admittedly, I have lived a sedentary lifestyle for many, many year and as a result, have gained a lot of weight, which has caused me much sadness. I remember sliding into sizes 6 - 8 in my 20s and never imagined that I would ever allow myself to get as big as I am today .

On most days, I blame my weight gain on my career... it always seems to get in the way of my personal life! Darn it! Yes, I admit that I have allowed my career to direct the course of my life for a very long time. But the truth of the matter is, it simply boils down to loving myself just enough to make ME my first priority. Along with that love comes a huge responsibility, which is to ensure my good health and well being at all times. I have neglected to fulfill my end of the bargain, and have paid dearly for it over the years with various back and respiratory illnesses.

Now I have had enough of being ill and feeling sorry for myself! Today is a new day and I am taking my life back! Starting today, I am taking control of my life by committing to making ME my #1 priority!

At the start of my journey I weighed a whopping 259lbs and hope to lose at least 80lbs by December 31, 2010. To achieve this goal, I will employ Aristocle's philosophy on achieving excellence: to become what I repeatedy do ~ to exercise and eat healthily every day until it is no longer an act, but a habit!

My Program:
My weight loss program consists of participating in regular cardio exercise - outdoor/indoor walking & jogging and elliptical trainer at least 5 times a week - and maintaining a healthy diet of lean protein, whole wheat, vegetable, and fruit.

    Hi Meg, I replied to a post of yours on the C25k board but wanted to come see your page, drop by and say hi. I noticed that we have similar starting points and goal weights. I've been there and I felt compelled to tell you that I know that you can do this! I started my weight loss journery with very little exercise and then started walking. With your goals and where you're at, you're going to see success much sooner than I did in the beginning. So way to go!
