Thanks for your comment on my sparkspage.

I had wondered about Thyroid as I have a lot of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but the tests have consistently come back negative. Diabetes has been less of a worry as I don't really have the symptoms, but I am higher risk in that I have a tendency for low blood sugar, so I keep an eye on that too and so far no signs of high blood sugar.

My doctor for years just got on my case about eating less and exercising more; when I moved a few years ago I got a different doctor and he was pretty sure that my main problem is stress. And in fact many of the symptoms I have that I thought were hypothyroid are those for adrenal fatigue and the weight gain pattern I have is classic for high chronic cortisol levels. This is also supported by the fact that when I graduated last year (even though things were still pretty stressful due to moving 3 times in 6 months! Plus eating out a lot due to all the moving etc.) I ate crap, my workouts remained unchanged, and yet I managed to LOSE 15 pounds.

I am not at all familiar with the wheat belly diet but I am reluctant to adapt a restrictive diet if I can help it since my husband has a ton of food allergies and that makes cooking for the two of us hard enough as it is. If I were to remove gluten from our diet the only grain/carb we could eat would be rice and maybe quinoa. Still, I'm open to hearing about to see if it's something that could be adapted.

And thank you for your comment on my blog. I almost didn't write it, but I thought that I probably wasn't alone in feeling this way, and maybe if I wrote it other people might realize that they aren't alone as well.
