I am a 30+ year old mother of a beautiful little girl. I am looking forward to making some positive changes in my life starting with my weight.

Growing up, I was always a little on the thick side. Then once I graduated high school, the pounds began to pack on seemingly overnight. Although, I had become a plus-sized woman, I still appreciated my body and was not worried about losing weight because it was still rather shapely. That was, until I became pregnant with my daughter. I was already well into the 200s, but the added baby weight had me hovering very close to 300lbs.

Well after giving birth, within a month or so, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight of around 250lbs and for some odd reason I was content. I could still find nice clothes, and I could walk in 4" heels without my feet begging for mercy, so I was good.

Then as my daughter began to grow, so did I. All of a sudden, I was packing on pounds again. I blamed it on motherhood and me giving up the "Rockstar" lifestyle.
I tipped the scales at an excess of 300lbs. I was mortified. This sent me into a depression. I no longer wanted to go out and hated being seen in public. I stopped shopping and dressing up.

Then last year I was diagnosed with PCOS. After doing research on the disease, I realize that it makes gaining weight easier and losing it harder. There are medicines to treat it, but my doc recommended I start with dropping some weight. So... here I am and here we go!

    Because today's so special
    it really wouldn't do,
to send one simple birthday wish
to last the whole year through...
    So this wishes happy moments,
a day when dreams come true,
and a year that's filled with all the things
that mean the most to you.
    Happy Birthday!

I am so excited you are starting today! You can do it girl. Working out is minor to raising a successful child and you are doing that! Just go for a walk with her or play with her. Start small. Eat a little less tonight at dinner. Pack your lunch for work tomorrow. Whatever the case may be, do something and keep doing it.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19. It can be really hard to lose weight, INITIALLY, but it comes off just like it would anyone else. THe Biggest Loser three seasons ago had PCOS. I have had it for ten years and I have managed to lose 37 pounds in four and a half months. THat first month was hard mentally because I was working out twice a day and eating right and I only lost 3 pounds. But I didn't stop. That next month I lost 12. So just start and know you have my support along with everyone else on Spark.
