8/17 - Many things have happened over the last 5 years that have caused more weight gain and discomfort. I am back again to fight this battle so that I can continue to walk - and walk in a healthy way. I need two knee replacements but can't have them done until I lose at least 180#. That's going to be my focus for the next year. I will lose the weight. I will become healthier in the process. I will walk small distances and long distances again. I WILL DO THIS TO SURVIVE!!!

3/9/12 - Things have been rough over the last few years. I've gained back some of what I lost, spent a lot of time going through the "who cares" phase but yet, in the back of my mind there was always that quiet little voice telling me I couldn't give up. I'm back again and aiming to lose what I've gained and to lose some more. In the process, I'll be eating healthier again (I gotta get away from the fast food places!) and I'll be exercising more. I will succeed with this journey. I will eventually reach my ultimate goal.

11/7/09 - Gee, I haven't updated this in way too long! I'm having some rough patches, but I'm still plugging along. I will get through this current brick wall and I will continue to fight. Frustration, disappointment and not really caring have been constant companions lately. It's time to change that!

3/15/09 - Gee, it's been awhile since I've updated this! I'm still pursuing my healthy lifestyle. Of course, I've hit some bumps along the way but I haven't and I'm not giving up. I'm starting to have too much fun!! I can walk a mile now without stopping. My treadmill will let me walk on it without yelling back at me! I'm really starting to imagine those things I'm going to be able to do this summer and I'm getting excited. Onward with determination! Here we go!!

11/4/08 - Wow - I haven't updated this in awhile! My journey has continued with a few bumps in the road (actually a major bump called October!) But, through it all, I still kept my focus as much as possible. I've now hit the 40 pound gone mark!! My first big goal! I'm excited! Now, I want more!! My motivation is still going - and my body is craving the right food. I can tell when I stray. I'm actually able to get into some clothes that have been hanging in my closet for a long time. How exciting is that!! As my daughter said the other night - I'm going to have a new wardrobe (and the best part is I don't have to go out and buy things right now since I already have it!). Keep working towards your goal and you'll have the chance to experience the joy of your accomplishments too!

8/26/08 - Just finished my 4th week and I'm still as committed as I was when I started. The different challenges I'm entering are a huge help - something to keep me motivated and moving. Oh yes, we're on our way. Almost halfway to the first major goal! Can't wait!!

8/11/08 - I'm 2 full weeks into this new journey that will change the rest of my life. I'm looking forward to new habits and the positive physical changes that will come as I continue to move along. I'm exercising (which was unheard of for me!) and I'm now eating healthier. Major changes for me. But, good none the less. Stay posted - you'll hear about the changes as they happen!

I've been overweight most of my life. The only time I've been close to my goal weight was before I got pregnant. In the 22 years since then I've added many pounds. And now I've got the physical ailments that go along with the added weight. It's time to change that - and become a healthier person. It's time to take control of my body and not let my body be in control. It's going to take some time but I think I'm finally ready...

My Goals:
My overall, ultimate goal is to become healthier. During the journey to that goal, I will be able to climb those stairs and not be winded, I will be able to lose the meds I'm on, I will include exercise in my day (and not just think about it and make excuse after excuse!), I will eat healthier - and in the process maybe save some money since I won't be visiting the fast food places as often! I will even gain some energy and enthusiam for life again!

My short term goals:
-get those fruits and veggies in (DONE!)
-start drinking water instead of pop (DONE!)
-more exercise minutes
-try some new foods

My Program:
I'm tracking my food intake - surprising what you find when you write it down!

I'm figuring out the best exercises for me at this time.

I'm hooked up with 3 friends who are all interested in becoming healthier women. We encourage each other and commiserate with each other.

Hi! My name is Dannette and I live in Michigan. I work full time but I'm ready to retire! (I've been with my current employer for 30 years.)
