Sept 2018

Hey SparkPeeps,
So my page says it has been 1891 days since my last status post... about 5 years. A lot has changed since the profiles you can read below. I'm still a mom to three kiddos and my history hasn't changed much. My kids are 10, 14 and 16 and I'm now very definitely a 40 something not in my 30's. Those were the good old days! I've maintained most of my weight loss, about 100 pounds of the total and it has been over 10 years keeping it off.

I've learned a few things in the past couple of years. Food isn't my enemy. It doesn't have moral value. I was/am not a bad person because I was/am carrying extra fat. Fat is a thing, not a character definition. I am done with negative self-talk and unobtainable goals or striving for the perfect weight. I am done obsessing about food and exercise to the point of injury and illness. My life is more valuable to me and everyone else important to me when I am happy, confident, strong, active and at peace. I do not need to weigh a certain weight to be those things.

My current goal is to lose about 12-15 pounds of the weight I have gained since giving up running due to spine injuries and my life got more complicated in a variety of ways. So much positive came out of my mental transformation regarding food and weight and body image that I do not regret the gain but I am ready to track again and be more purposeful about my weight.

Hi! I'm a 30-something mom of three kiddos. When I got pregnant with my oldest I weighed close to 280. Looking at that little sweet face gave me the motivation I needed to get off my couch and never be "the fat mom" I was going to be without a huge life-style change. Since then I've had two more sweet kids and lost 125 pounds.

I attend a weekly weight loss group but the program doesn't seem to fit the nutrition needs I have as a home athlete so I did some research into sport's nutrition and changed my eating habits and needed to track calories, carbs, protein and fat... that lead me to trying several on-line tracking sites. So far, I like SparkPeople the best!

**UPDATE 2011** I'm still keeping the weight off and my last pregnancy was 4 1/2years ago (other than pregnancy I've never gained more than a few pounds here or there since having lost weight). My focus these days is multi-sport events. This is the summer of my first Duathlon and Triathlon and I'm so excited! I've worked really hard the last 6+ months for this and I hope it all goes well enough that I will want to keep doing it!
