Update 06/01/2009:

Hello everyone. I miss you all so much. I just wanted to take a moment to update you all and let you know what's going on. As many of you know, we have moved. We found some land in our price range and we are in the process of building and construction the mini-farm we've always wanted. In the last 2 short months we got our goat pen established and now have 6 goats. 4 more coming soon. That will complete our starting goat herd.

I still have kidding stalls to build but since we bought young doelings/bucklings, it'll be late fall or even early spring before we breed our stock.

I'm currently in the process of building a chicken coop. I have to hurry because I have two batches of hatching eggs in the incubator. One is due to hatch in 6 days and the other in 9 days. Wish me luck!

We still have ALOT to do here to get our mini farm up and running but we're making pretty good progress.

I haven't lost any more weight, but I have been maintaining. Maintaining as we all know is the hardest part afterall so I'm feeling pretty good about it.

I'll be back full force eventually. In the meantime, I'll continue to check in every once in awhile. Keep the emails coming. I do read them! You have all been so kind and supportive in the two years I've been a member of SP.

Update 03/24/2009:
I made it down as far as 156 for a few days and then gained back up to 161. I bounced around between 158 and 161 for a month without making any progress. My calories hadn't changed, I still drank my 3 to 10 cups of water a day, sleep schedule still in tact, and I increased my exercise without any results (shown on the scale that is). So last week I decided to change the foods I'm eating. I am now eating a more plant based diet. No beef or pork at all. I cut way back on regular cheese but increased the amounts of skim milk, nonfat yogurts, and nonfat cottage cheese. I allow myself two meals a week that include meat. Either fish or chicken. I'm going to give this diet a try for a few weeks and see what happens.

Last summer (2007) I got real serious and lost from 214 down to 165. Over the winter I gained up to 185 again. Throughout this summer (2008) I've been yoyo'ing with diet and excise and watched my weight yoyo between 178 and185. I'm now back up to the 185 again and my Blood Sugar is out of control too. A visit to the doctors office proved that my diabetes have progressed, my cholesterol is way too high, and I now have kidney damages due to uncontrolled diabetes. It is time to get back on my medication, diet, and exercise plans. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. This has to stop now. So... here I go again!

My Goals:
My goals for 2009 are to gain control of my diabetes with diet and exercise, stay consistent with water intake, set and maintain a regular sleep schedule, exercise routinely, and lose the remaining 30 lbs that'll bring me to the "healthy" weight goal that my doctor suggested.

My Program:
My program starts with drinking 8+ cups of water a day and restrict my carbohydrate intake.

My program also includes 20+ minutes of cardiovascular exercise at least 5 days a week, and Strength training 2 days a week. I use body weight and dumbbells for resistance.

Personal Information:
I am 35 years old with 4 natural children and 2 step children. I also own 2 Australian shepherds who keeps me company during the day when my Husband and kids are gone. My husband and I run and operate our own business so we work alot of hard, long hours. Although I generally stay home to tend the office, I do on occasions go to work in the field with him. I love what we do.

Other Information:
I am a diabetic struggling to keep my blood sugar levels down and under control. I am also trying to lower my cholesterol and trying to stop the progression of kidney damages. I hope to even reverse some of the damages.

    Way to go, Patty! I am soooooo proud of you for many reasons, but for 1.) your weight loss, and 2.) your farm... you sound like you are really excited about the animals!!!

    My diabetes is goofy again. I am trying to lose weight, but I am gaining. It stinks. I lower my basal rate on my pump to exercise.... but I go really low anyway. I can't seem to get it under control. UuGgHh.... BUT, tomorrow is a new day!

    Do you realize how few people stayed with this who joined when you did? You know that you are REALLY special to love yourself so much to have stayed being a Sparker while they gave up. You have done FANTASTIC!
