    Today is St. Patrick's Day,
Do you have the luck of the Irish?
Well you need to get a lucky charm,
And make a great big wish.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
It's the time to eat corned beef and cabbage,
    And also drink green beer,
And raise our glasses in a toast,
And bring in a lot of cheer.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
So don't forget when you go out,
To wear green by the way,
Then you can join all of the rest,
And have a great St. Patrick's Day!

I've added you as a friend and I hope I can be helpful on your journey to better health!

You asked me about the SPAT... I bought one for $40 and I loved the motivation I got from it. Unfortunately I lost my first one. I actually lost it twice and found it, but the third time I lost it, it was really gone. I had been putting it in my pocket and going in and out of cars it managed to fall out. I found it once in my car and once in my daughter's car and then who knows where it went? I think I washed it once in the washing machine and it did just fine and I wore it the pool and it was okay there as well.

I bought another one when they were on sale for $29, and I'm still using it. Since my mastectomy I don't wear a bra which is why I was putting it in my pocket. I also wear slip on shoes most of the time, Birkenstocks or Crocs so I couldn't put SPAT there either. I started using the SPAT for the second time just after Christmas, and now I put it in a small bag with a drawstring
that I pin to my waist band and let it hang inside my slacks. So far that is working well for me. I haven't explored the phone app because I didn't think I would have a smart phone. I did get one when one of my daughters gave her old one to me, but I think that was before the app was ready. I had cataract surgery on my eyes in January and February and I'm still recuperating so I still haven't looked for the app yet either. I am having some trouble with small print, and I need to rest my eyes and use drops until my next appt the first week of March.

I had a pedometer several years ago and I didn't use it all that much. I think that because the SPAT is connected to the computer that makes a difference for me. The computer does all the charting and and it compares from week to week how I'm doing. I started out with a goal of 750 steps a day and now I am averaging over 1000 and a couple of times over 2000 steps. That doesn't sound like much, but I have severe arthritis in my left foot and moderate arthritis in both knees, and most exercise I do is chair exercise due to pain. I am happy to say though that I have lost weight and I have less pain which is probably why I've been able to add more steps to my day. I hope my testimonial helps you in your decision, but as in most things everyone's journey to wellness is a little different from another's.

I use a cane when I go outside now in case I need to climb steps because climbing without help still hurts, but around the house I don't use the cane so much anymore. I think the weight loss helped with my knees, but I also think knee replacements might still be a necessity in the future. I'm older than you as well, and perhaps have carried more weight for a longer period of time than you. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!
